  • U DDBA Papers of the Barnards Family 1401-1945 of South Cave
Hull History Centre: Papers of the Barnards Family of South Cave U DDBA Papers of the Barnards Family 1401-1945 of South Cave Historical background: The papers relate to the branch of the family headed by Leuyns Boldero Barnard who began building up a landed estate centred on South Cave in the mid-eighteenth century. His inherited ancestry can be traced back to William and Elizabeth Barnard in the late sixteenth century. Their son, William Barnard, became mayor of Hull and died in 1614. Of his seven sons, two of them also served time as mayor of Hull, including the sixth son, Henry Barnard (d.1661), through whose direct descendants Leuyns Boldero Barnard was eventually destined to succeed. Henry Barnard, married Frances Spurrier and together had a son and a daughter. His daughter, Frances, married William Thompson MP of Humbleton and his son, Edward Barnard, who lived at North Dalton, was recorder of Hull and Beverley from the early 1660s until 1686 when he died. He and his wife Margaret, who was also from the Thompson family, had at least seven children, the eldest of whom, Edward Barnard (d.1714), had five children some of whom died without issue and some had only female heirs. The second son, William Barnard (d.1718) married Mary Perrot, the daughter of a York alderman, but had no children. The third son, Henry Barnard (will at U DDBA/14/3), married Eleanor Lowther, but he also died, in 1769 at the age of 94, without issue. From the death of Henry Barnard in 1769 the family inheritance moved laterally.

  • The Diocese of York the Deanery of South Wold Deanery Plan 2012
The Diocese of York The Deanery of South Wold ‘A network of churches serving Rural communities’ Deanery Plan 2012 1 Mission Statement: The South Wold Deanery exists to provide a network of mutual support for churches • by encouraging one another in worship • by seeking God's will for our communities • by linking congregations to each other and to the wider church • by the sharing of gifts and resources The South Wold Deanery Synod aims to provide a bridge between the Diocese and Parish, and to be a space where all can be heard and valued and feel part of a greater whole. Deanery Prayer: We give thanks for the life and witness of all the churches in our Deanery, and pray that through the process of formulating a new Deanery Plan, God will give us fresh vision and energy to support one another, to share resources and to build bridges within our communities. Methodology: Whilst the Deanery Plan has been ‘top down’ in terms of the planned loss of stipendary posts, it was felt essential to allow the voice of each church to be heard. Each congregation or PCC was asked to respond individually to the paper ‘Changing Expectations’ and the accompanying discussion document. The result of this approach has been very positive. Most have attempted to grapple with the issue of ageing demography and increased ministerial work‐ load. Various different approaches have been suggested, which we have tried to reflect in the Action Plan. Two benefices (Garrowby Hill and Holme on Spalding Moor) have chosen to speak collectively; all the rest have responded individually.

But too many of them are suffering from neglect, decay and pressure from development. Heritage at Risk is a national project to identify these endangered places and then help secure their future. In 2008 English Heritage published its first register of Heritage at Risk – a region-by-region list of all the Grade I and II* listed buildings (and Grade II listed buildings in London), structural scheduled monuments, registered battlefields and protected wreck sites in England known to be ‘at risk’.

  • St. Mary's Etton with Dalton Holme Parish Profile 2019
St. Mary's Etton with Dalton Holme Parish Profile 2019 St. Mary’s Church Etton Holme-on -the- Wolds Etton Village South Dalton Village ST. MARY'S ETTON WITH DALTON HOLME - PARISH PROFILE 1! Welcome! Thank you for your interest in this post – I do hope that this Profile will provide you with the information that you need and that you might be inspired to come and join us in the East Riding of Yorkshire. This is a new post which seeks ensure there is ministerial provision for the parishes of Etton and Dalton Holme, as well as provide the opportunity for the post holder to contribute to the wider life of Beverley deanery. The House for Duty post is to be responsible for the day to day life of the two parishes, working alongside their Priest in Charge, Richard Parkinson. It is envisaged that this new appointment will be present in the churches on 3 out of the 4 Sundays in a month, with Richard covering the other Sunday. On the Sunday when the House for Duty priest is not in either village they will either be ministering in Cherry Burton, Richard Parkinson’s other parish, or elsewhere in the deanery. Whilst Richard will be present once a month and will lead the Annual Parochial Meetings, the rest of the oversight of the parishes’ mission and ministry will fall to the House for Duty priest. The two villages have a total population of around 500, and so it is envisaged that this part of the role could be completed in a Sunday plus the equivalent of one day a week.

  • East Riding Local Plan Review Options Document – Summary of Consultation Responses
East Riding Local Plan Review Options Document – summary of consultation responses March 2019 Question 1 - In relation to the housing requirement for the East Riding, which option should be taken forward as part of the Local Plan review? Option 1 - Use the new standard methodology to identify the local housing need for the East Riding as the basis for a new Local Plan requirement. Option 2 - As Option 1 but with an uplift to help address affordable housing needs identified in the Strategic Housing Market Assessment. Option 3 - Continue the current Local Plan approach which considers the housing requirement across the Hull Housing Market Area, supporting the development and regeneration of the City of Hull, and managing housing growth in the East Riding. This would result in a lower requirement for the East Riding than Option 1 would suggest.
