Photographic Competition: Terms & Conditions

1. The subject for the AONB Website Photographic Competition 2011 is "Beautiful Bowland". The theme is open to individual interpretation, but for inspiration participants might want to consider the AONB's Sense of Place themes which include: a place to enjoy and keep special, delicious food & drink; a landscape rich in heritage; a living landscape; wild open spaces and a special place for wildlife.

3. There will be 3 categories for people to enter, you will specify the category you wish to enter when you upload your photos on the website: a. Professional (a professional photographer will be considered to be someone who takes/has taken some income from the sale of photos) b. Novice (non professional, over 16) c. Under 16s

There are 9 prizes on offer in total: 1 st , 2 nd and 3 rd prizes in each category. The best photographs from each category will be displayed on the Forest of Bowland website from October 2011.

The prizes are as stated and cannot be deferred or transferred. There will be no cash alternatives. Some prizes are subject to terms and conditions.

5. Entrants can submit up to four photos in colour or black and white. Only one photo by any individual entrant can be included in the final shortlist. Electronic images only will be accepted.

6. The competition is open to UK residents only . Employees of the Forest of Bowland AONB, as well as their immediate families are not eligible to enter. Entrants under the age of 12 years need to have parent or guardian consent to enter.

7. You will submit your photos at www.forestofbowland.com there will be a link from the homepage. You will be asked a series of questions including where the photo was taken, keywords and contact details.

8. The Forest of Bowland partnership 1 will only ever use personal details for the purposes of administering the scheme.

9. The competition closes Friday 30 th September, 2011.

10. The photographs will be judged by a panel . A professional photographer will judge in each of the categories along with a member of the Forest of Bowland team and other appropriate people chosen by the Forest of Bowland partnership.

11. All entries must be the original work of the entrant and must not infringe the rights of any other party. The entrants must be the sole owner of copyright in all photographs entered and must have obtained permission of any people featured in the entries, or their parents/guardians if children under 16 are featured. Further, entrants must not have breached any laws when taking their photographs.

12. Entrants will retain copyright of the photographs that they submit to the Forest of Bowland partnership. By entering the competition, all entrants grant to the Forest of Bowland partnership the right to publish and exhibit their photographs on websites, print and other media related to the promotion of the Forest of Bowland AONB. No fees will be payable for any of the above uses. Entrants whose photographs are one of the finalists also agree to take part in post-competition publicity. While we make every effort to credit photographers, including in printed reproductions of their work, we cannot guarantee that every broadcast

use of the photographs will include the photographers' names.

13. By entering, entrants will be deemed to have agreed to be bound by these rules and the Forest of Bowland partnership reserves the right to exclude any entry from the competition at any time.

14. The Forest of Bowland partnership reserves the right to cancel this competition or alter any of the rules at any stage, if deemed necessary in its opinion, and if circumstances arise outside of its control.

15. If the winner is unable to be contacted after reasonable attempts have been made, we reserve the right to either offer the prize to a runner-up or to re-offer the prize in any future competition.
