[email protected] Abstract. Results of two lepidopterological surveys carried out on the Tlustec Hill near Mimoň in the Liberec Region in 1985–1988 and in 2007 are presented. Deciduous forests are predominant habitats at the site, plant com- munities belong to the Tilio-Acerion and Fagion aliances. In total, 616 species of butterflies and moths were found. In 2007, moth communities were studied quantitatively with the use of portable light traps and the dominance of captured species was calculated. The following significant species associated with natural deciduous forests showed higher levels of dominance (more than 1% frequencies in the quantitatively assessed sample) calculated per single excursion: Bucculatrix thoracella (Thunberg, 1794), Caryocolum blandellum (Douglas, 1852), C. tricolorellum (Haworth, 1812), C. huebneri (Haworth, 1828), C. kroesmanniellum (Herrich-Schäffer, 1854), Gelechia sestertiella Herrich-Schäffer, 1854, Epagoge grotiana (Fabricius, 1781), Pammene aurita Razowski, 1991, Parectropis similaria (Hufnagel, 1767), Ptilodon cucullina (Denis & Schiffermüller, 1775), Pechipogo strigilata (Linnaeus, 1758) and Brachylomia viminalis (Fabricius, 1776). Subdominant occurrence of Hepialus fusconebulosus (De Geer, 1778) and Perizoma didymatum (Linnaeus, 1758) corresponds with azonal character of the top of the Tlustec Hill. Coleophora filaginella Fuchs, 1881 was recorded in the Czech Republic for the first time.
