Special Collections and Archives Ref: MS452 Title: Archives of Cultural Tradition Miscellaneous Manuscripts Scope: An extremely wide and varied collection of material relating to mainly British cultural tradition. The collection is loosely focused on folklore, dialect and domesticity. It is made up of printed ephemera, hand written accounts and reproduced and original documents across a wide time frame. Dates: 1771-1999 Level: Collection Extent: 64 boxes Name of creator: Archives of Cultural Tradition Administrative / biographical history: This collection is made up of individual donations to the Archives of Cultural Tradition. Items mainly relate to British cultural tradition, although other countries are present. Folklore, dialect and domesticity are represented through printed ephemera, hand-written accounts and published documents. Much of the material covers local history and folk-traditions with newspaper cuttings and relevant articles as well as survey studies collected by the Archives of Cultural Tradition. We were one of the first hospitals in the country to become a Foundation Trust. Since becoming a Foundation Trust in 2005 Barnsley Hospitals NHS Foundation trust has sought to utilise the foundation trust regime that this brings to benefit our patients. We provide a range of acute hospital services. These include emergency and intensive care, medical and surgical services, elderly care, paediatric and maternity services and diagnostic and clinical support services. -

Tapton School Academy Trust (TSAT) was formed in April 2012 by Tapton School, an outstanding 11 to 18 school in the South West of Sheffield. The Trust was immediately asked to support and sponsor Chaucer School, an 11 to 16 school in the north of the city which converted to academy status from September 2012. Another ‘Outstanding’ Ofsted judgement for Tapton in 2013 gave the Trust the opportunity to grow and we currently stand at nine schools – four secondary and five primary: Tapton, Chaucer, Bradfield and Forge Valley are our secondaries and our primaries are Southey Green, Meynell, Hillsborough, Wisewood and Hallam. Data Journeys as an approach for exploring the socio-cultural shaping of (big) data: the case of climate science in the United Kingdom Jo Bates, University of Sheffield Paula Goodale, University of Sheffield Yuwei Lin, University for the Creative Arts Abstract The paper reports on a pilot study aimed at developing, and assessing the utility of, a data journeys approach for critically exploring the socio-cultural shaping of interconnected data infrastructures. At various points along the journey of a (metaphorical) datum - from production through processing, re-use and intersection with other data journeys - selected organisations and projects are brought into focus and empirical data about the socio-cultural values and practices shaping the life of data within that particular space are collected using a variety of qualitative data collection methods. These empirical data are then critically and thematically analysed in relation to the broader social context. This paper outlines the rationale for the data journeys approach prior to presenting initial findings from The Secret Life of a Weather Datum research project which applies the approach to explore the socio-cultural values and practices interacting with weather and climate data as they move through a variety of data infrastructures. The initial findings presented in this paper focus specifically on weather data production and climate science at Weston Park Museum Weather Station in Sheffield, UK; the Met Office (the UK’s national meteorological organisation); the Climatic Research Unit at the University of East Anglia, UK (a world leading climate research institute); and the Old Weather Project (a citizen science project involved in historical weather data recovery and rescue). -
