India's economic growth will accelerate to 7.3% in the 2018-19 and 7.5% in the next fiscal year as per Credit rating agency Fitch. It has been projected in its second-quarter Sovereign Credit Overview for Asia Pacific region. 2. Reserve Bank has initiated prompt corrective action against public sector lender Dena Bank in view of high non-performing loans, restricting the bank from giving fresh credit and new hiring. 3. State-owned gas utility GAIL India has borrowed Rs 2,000 crore loan from State Bank of India (SBI) to meet its general capital expenditure requirement. 4. Sebi recently came out with a detailed framework for risk-based Know Your Client (KYC) documentation of foreign portfolio investors (FPIs). 5. Asian Development Bank (ADB) President Takehiko Nakao said India‟s growth in 2018 would pick up to 7.3%. 6. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) unexpectedly announced it would buy Rs. 10,000 crore ($1.50 billion) of government bonds via open market operation (OMO), after failing to sell all the debt it had offered to bidders earlier. 7. The Reserve Bank of India has asked banks authorised to deal in foreign exchange (Authorised Dealer-I Banks) to share data with the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI). 8. HDFC Bank launched its Digital Loans against Mutual Funds (LAMF), in partnership with transfer agent CAMS. 18. Dated: 29th March, 2010 Respected Rashtrapati Ji, The National Commission for Scheduled Tribes was set up w.e.f. 19 February, 2004 under the (amended) Article 338A of the Constitution. Article 338A, inter-alia, provides that it shall be the duty of the Commission to present to the President, annually and at such other times as the Commission may deem fit, reports upon the working of the safeguards available to the members of Scheduled Tribes and to make in such reports recommendations as to the measures that should be taken by the Union or any State for effective implementation of those safeguards and other measures for protection, welfare and socio-economic development of the Scheduled Tribes. 2. The first Commission headed by Shri Kunwar Singh submitted its first Report for the period 2004-05 and 2005-06 to the President of India on 8 August, 2006. The Second Report for the period 2006-07 was submitted on 03.09.2008 by Smt. Urmila Singh, then Chairperson of the National Commission for Scheduled Tribes. I have now the honour to present to you the Third Report of the National Commission for Scheduled Tribes for the year 2007-08. 3. During the period under review, the Commission struggled with inordinate vacancies of Members and staff. Nevertheless, the Members of the Commission held intensive discussions with the senior officers and people’s representatives at State, district and local levels. The Commission also held a series of meetings with the senior officers of the State Govts., Central Ministries/ Departments, Central Public Sector Enterprises and financial institutions including Banks and was instrumental in redressing the grievances of large number of petitioners relating to violation of the policy of reservation in matter of appointments and other service and development related matters including cases of atrocities on Scheduled Tribes.

    CIVIL SERVICES EXAMINATION 2019 HIMACHAL CURRENT AFFAIRS Safety system in private, public buses: Overloading to be tracked through alarm, GPS Following the Banjar accident in which 45 innocent lives were lost, the state Transport Department has decided to install integrated automated passenger safety system in both private and public buses to check overloading and overspeeding. The estimated cost of the project is Rs 40 crore. Alarms and global positioning system will be installed in all buses to track the location of vehicles. Regional transport offices (RTOs) will get real-time information on the number of passengers on board a bus through the alarm and GPS system. Speed governor will provide information on its speed. Those who violate norms will be caught and penalised there and then. A software for the system was being developed and it would be ready for implementation within six months. To check the fitness of buses, an automated testing system would be set up. Vehicles that failed the test would not be allowed to ply on roads and their permits would be cancelled, Transport Department will start fitness programme for drivers as well. There will be zero tolerance for traffic rule violations “Rising Himachal: Global Investors’ Meet 2019” : New Developments The Global Investors’ Meet 2019 is the flagship business event of Himachal Pradesh and its inaugural edition will be held at Dharamsala on November 7 and 8.
