She will be the special guest at the Women Leaders for Barbara Bry event on Sunday, November 15 at 4:30 p.m. in La Jolla. “Barbara Bry has spent her life working to level the playing field for women of all ages,” Davis said. “Barbara set an example through her success as a tech entrepreneur, founded organizations that support the advancement of women in science and public service, and advocated tirelessly for women’s access to healthcare and fair pay. We need more role models like Barbara in leadership, and I believe Barbara would be the most effective representative for District 1,” said Davis. “I am grateful to have the support of one of San Diego’s most well-respected elected leaders,” Bry said. “Congresswoman Davis has been a strong voice and an effective representative for San Diego on the national level as well as a passionate advocate for the health and advancement of women and girls. I am honored to have the endorsement of a trailblazer like Congresswoman Davis,” said Bry. Bry’s mission to improve the lives of women was shaped by her role model, her mother. “My mother, Adelaide Bry was ahead of her time and shattered the glass ceiling as a successful advertising executive, psychologist and author. She showed me that I too could succeed in business and also inspired my activist spirit,” said Bry. Barbara Bry started Run Women Run, a non-partisan organization that encourages women to pursue public service and Athena San Diego, the largest organization for women in the tech and life sciences. She has also served as a Board Member for Planned Parenthood. Congresswoman Davis will be the special guest at the upcoming Women Leaders for Barbara Bry event happening on Sunday, November 15 at 4:30 p.m. in La Jolla. The event will bring together women leaders from across the professional and political spectrums who have worked alongside Bry for the advancement of women. Barbara Bry’s bio: A resident of San Diego for more than 30 years, Barbara Bry has been an entrepreneur in both the technology and non-profit sectors. Bry was co-founder of Atcom/Info, which developed early versions of the software that provides Internet access in public places. She was also on the founding team of ProFlowers.com, a pioneering ecommerce company based in San Diego. Additionally, she served as the first associate director of CONNECT, an organization that helps foster the growth of early stage tech companies. Bry is the founder of Athena San Diego, the leading organization for women in the San Diego tech and life science community and Run Women Run, a non-partisan organization that recruits and encourages women to seek public office.
