Branch vide Memo No 349-HS(MS)/HF /O/HS(MS)/BMW-Ol/2019 dated 29.11.2019 Sub: Disposal ofBio Medical Waste from Urban Primary Health Centers (U-PHCs) under NUHM Sir / Madam, In connection to the reference and subject cited above, I am to request you to inform the respective Urban Local Bodies (ULBs)covered under NUHMto take necessary steps for signing service level agreement with the enlisted agencies for collection, transportation, treatment and disposal of bio medical waste from every functional U-PHC on regular basis. It is to be noted here that the rate for lifting, transportation, treatment and disposal of bio medical waste is to be ascertained on the basis of available number of beds at the particular public health facility (e.g., rate per bed per day) up to PHClevel (rural and urban) at various locations of the State. Calculation of beds for non-bedded facility like U-PHCswould be assessed on pro-rata basis with 1 bed allotted for a daily average OPDfootfall of 20 patients (old & new). Average monthly patient footfall is to be calculated on the basis of the total number of patients coming to the U-PHCsfor OPD consultation (numerator) over the number of OPDdays in that month (denominator). In this context, Rs. 24,51,750.00 (Rupees Twenty Four Lakh Fifty One Thousand Seven Hundred Fifty) only is hereby approved and released in favour of the following District Health & Family Welfare Samitis (DH&FWSs)for the disposal of BMWfrom U-PHCsout of activity head: Support for implementation of Kayakalp ,NUHM(Tally Code P.05.01) as per breakup of allocation given below- Fund Fund release SI.No. District 51. Furthermore, a detailed UPHC-wise breakup of allocation is annexed herewith for your ready reference. Meanwhile, you are requested to extend necessary support and guidance to the respective ULBs for signing of service level agreement with the agencies those are enlisted for handling, treatment and disposal of BMW in accordance with the order of this department (vide Memo no 349-HS(MS)/HF /O/HS(MS)/BMW-Ol/2019 dated 29.11.2019).
