The author is a film director and screenwriter whose writing credits include Tempest, Moscow on The Hudson, Fletch Lives and Down and Out in Beverly Hills. He grew up in Raleigh and graduated from UNC Chapel Hill. This is his first novel. “In 12-year-old Tommy Johnson, Capetanos has achieved something remarkable. In this age of irony, he’s given us a protagonist utterly lacking in cynicism. But as Tommy will learn in the course of a few short months, when you open yourself up fully to the world, you risk experiencing the pain that world can, when you least expect it, deal out in return. You may wince at times, sensing what awaits him. But you will also be reminded what it is to be truly alive.” – Steve Kloves, director of The Fabulous Baker Boys and Flesh And Bone; screenwriter of Wonder Boys, Harry Potter And The Sorcerer’s Stone, Harry Potter And The Chamber of Secrets, and Harry Potter And The Prisoner of Azkaban and four other screenplays in the Harry Potter series.
