Wheaton 29, Illinois Wesleyan 19 North Central 43, Carthage 8 Non-conference Elmhurst 45, North Park 0 With a 3-0 record on September 25, the CCIW finished up its most successful non-conference season in 12 years, going 22-2. This was the best finish since the CCIW went 14-2 in non-conference play during the 1998 season. This was October 9 also the conference’s best finish in the last six seasons after the CCIW went 21-3 Carthage 48, Millikin 24 in 2005. North Central 34, Augustana 14 Wheaton 27, Elmhurst 24 CCIW offensive player of the week Illinois Wesleyan 42, North Park 0 Elmhurst sophomore quarterback Joe Furco (Wheaton, Ill./Wheaton- Warrenville South) finished with nearly 400 yards of total offense and October 16 accounted for all five of Elmhurst’s touchdowns in a 40-34 road victory over North Central 38, Millikin 7 Millikin on Saturday. He completed 28-of-40 passing attempts (70.0 percent Wheaton 52, North Park 7 completion percentage) for 377 yards and four touchdown passes of six, 56, Illinois Wesleyan 30, Elmhurst 26 three, and 10 yards. He also scored on a 17-yard quarterback keeper to account Augustana 43, Carthage 16 for an Elmhurst touchdown. His 377 passing yards was the seventh-highest single-game total in Elmhurst history. Carthage @ Illinois Wesleyan, 1 p.m. Comeback victory for Thunder Millikin @ North Park, 1 p.m. Wheaton’s Jordan Roberts (Yorkville, Ill./Aurora Christian) quarterbacked the Thunder to a 31-24 victory over Carthage on Saturday, keeping them November 13 undefeated on the season. Roberts completed 20 of his 35 passing attempts for Wheaton @ Millikin, 1 p.m. 277 yards and three touchdown passes. He also carried the ball 16 times for 110 North Park @ North Central, 1 p.m. yards and a touchdown run as he combined for 387 of Wheaton’s 482 yards of Illinois Wesleyan @ Augustana, 1 p.m. offense. Wheaton trailed Carthage, 24-7, at halftime, however, Roberts threw Elmhurst @ Carthage, 1 p.m. two third quarter touchdowns and in the fourth quarter he scored on a two-yard run to give Wheaton the victory. Junior defensive end JD East (Indianapolis, Ind./North Central) had six tackles in the game (four solo), including two sacks (-17 yards) with a total of three tackles for loss (-21 yards). Augustana linebacker John Mago (Cary, Ill./Cary- School Points 1st Pl. Votes Grove) finished with 11 tackles while linebacker Joe Weber (South Elgin, North Central 48 6 Ill./Marmion Academy) recorded nine total tackles including a pair of sacks, Wheaton 41 1 giving him a team high of eight on the year. Robert Wood (Loves Park, Ill./ Augustana 33 1 Rockford Boylan) finished with 111 yards rushing on 22 carries and two touchdowns. Illinois Wesleyan 33 Carthage 28 Other CCIW news Millikin 21 Elmhurst tight end Ryan Bock (St. Joseph, Mich./H.S.) hauled in a career Elmhurst 13 high nine passes for 189 yards and a pair of touchdowns in the Bluejays 40- North Park 7 34 win over Millikin on Saturday. His 189 receiving yards ranks as the fifth- highest single-game total in Elmhurst history, and it’s the highest single-game receiving total by a tight end in Elmhurst history. 2009 CCIW Football Standings School CCIW Overall Carthage’s Chris Schulz (Oswego, Ill./H.S.) caught eight passes for 124 yards and a touchdown during Saturday’s 31-24 loss to Wheaton.
