With our focus on growing Pinot noir, we were looking for a cooler site. Being at a higher altitude and closer to the ocean provides growing conditions that ripen fruit slowly, achieving good structure and higher acidity with mineral and earthy characteristics backing up more prominent black fruit flavors.
