LAKERS players get first-class coaching, college-style training, competition against quality opponents, and exposure to NCAA coaches/scouts at league games and showcases as well as opportunities for personal development. TRAINING • College coaches like to recruit older Junior Hockey players because they are physically and mentally better prepared for the rigors of being a collegiate student-athlete. The ability to maximize strength and increase speed development is the most optimal during a young man’s 17-20 year old growth period and the Lakers want to help players make the most of their training potential. The Lakers utilize their own weight room at the LIA on a daily basis, under the guidance of its strength & conditioning coach and also have a weekly yoga session. The Laconia Swim & Athletic Club is the Lakers official training facility where the players can get additional gym time. Additionally, a cutting edge training program emphasizing nutrition, complete with detailed explanations and shopping lists! Because our league is primarily a weekend league, there is ample time to develop physically while playing a 45+ game schedule.
