Regional Update - April 2007 >>TELSTRA AFL COMMUNITY CAMPS

> REGIONAL MANAGER visited the Sapphire Coast during early February for their 2007 Telstra AFL James CEELY Community Camp. The Blues participated in activities including training sessions, a NAB AFL Auskick 0407 706 604 Superclinic, local school and hospital visits, community football forums for local AFL supporters, [email protected] coaches, trainers and youths. The Sapphire Coast football community was incredibly receptive to the Community Camp Program and the entire week was a great success. The ‘Dinner with the Blues’ > DEVELOPMENT MANAGERS function was also well received with the support of all local clubs and the SCAFL raised a significant amount of money. The Swans Cup is the new inter-school AFL [email protected] competition open to all secondary students in years 11 and 12 throughout NSW and the ACT. In its > AFL NSW/ACT inaugural year, the ACT and regional division is fielding a strong seven-team competition, with the eventual winner to progress to the quarter final stage. This program is run in conjunction with AFL CANBERRA OFFICE (NSW/ACT) and AFL Canberra senior clubs. The Roadshow was a national initiative, with Nowra and WEB: www.aflnswact.com.au Canberra included on the intinerary. During the visit, AFL umpires visited schools, attended local umpiring groups, conducted community forums and worked with children with Down Syndrome and other community groups.

The AFL (NSW/ACT) would like to welcome Umpire Development Officer, Ben Corfee and Club Development Officer, Ben MacCormack to its Canberra office. The two Bens will be working across the ACT and Southern NSW to develop football in their respective areas.
