Page 3 "WFI On The Fly" FEATURED DEALER CHARLIE’S FLY BOX We just celebrated our ten year anniversary here at Charlie’s Fly Box this past December and it’s been a hell of a ride. We aren’t located on a river, but just north of Denver right along I-70 which puts us right in the middle of a huge population base and right along the path to get to the mountains, so our shop gets a lot of traffic. The place is almost always hoppin’ with both regu- lar locals and out of towners headed fishing or getting their ty- ing fix. I can confidently say our shop has more fly tying tools and mate- rials than any shop I’ve ever been in and we draw fly tiers from all over. I was a commercial fly tier for a long, long time before I opened the shop and I’ve probably tied more flies than anyone I have ever met at this point. Both Jay Zimmerman (who works with me here in the shop) and I are Umpqua Signature Tiers as well, so having a great tying selection is really important to us and I think the shop reflects that well. We’ve always tried to have the latest and greatest new tying materials and the knowledge of how they work, a great selection of Whiting Hackle, including some of the more hard to find bits and pieces that really spur some creativity as well as a huge range of hooks, thread and other staples. Beyond that, a big part of our shop’s philosophy is to teach and to that end we try to provide excellent service and classes all along the way, whether you’re a new tier or angler or an old hand. The fact of the matter is, products them- selves can be found all over with a bit of digging, but finding a shop with the knowledge and expe- rience to make the job easier and more fun is a lot tougher, and that’s what we want to be.
