During an interview with Fox Business on August 13, 2020, President Donald Trump again spoke out against it, saying that the adoption of the Green New Deal would destroy the Empire State Building and eliminate all animals. In 2020, the presidential campaign of Howie Hawkins, the Green Party's 2020 presidential candidate, is running on the Green New Deal platform, urging the United States to achieve zero greenhouse gas emissions and 100% clean energy by 2030. Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden has refused to endorse a full Green New Process plan proposed by members of his party, but he has vowed to increase renewable energy production, move to more energy efficient buildings and raise fuel efficiency standards for cars.
