The interviews make up approximately ten minutes of the feature's total runtime of one hour and four minutes. I personally would www.JoinTheCovenant.c have preferred to have seen the interviews as an entirely separate om featurette to watch apart from the concert. On that note, I am glad they included a concert-only play. Overall, I was not blown away by the live performance. I think part of the problem is that I am not very familiar with a lot of the bands who performed in the concert, and I am not a huge fan of Sublime's music either. In the end, the tunes just weren't as catchy to me and I would much rather hear the songs in their Advertise on this site original format conducted by Sublime versus the covers. Track List 1. The visuals look great with a clean and crisp picture. The lighting was also done nicely and details the performers well. Audio: The sound in this concert DVD is provided in 5.1 Dolby digital surround, 5.1 DTS digital surround sound, and 2.0 Dolby digital stereo. In general, the audio track sounds good with vocals and instrumentals coming off rich and vibrant and only a few distortions. Extras: For special features, the DVD comes with two music videos, "Pawn Shop" from the release party of the Tribute album with Sublime's original drummer Bud Gaugh, and "Date Rape" performed by Fishbone, and a slide show with pictures and a narrative about the Sublime tribute. Also included is a bonus audio CD with Sublime covers "Ebin" by The Banned feat. Chuck D., "Had a Dat" by Dr. Isreal, "Waiting for My Ruca" by Bedouin Soundclash, "Roots of Creation" by Mishka, "Don't Push" by Mystic Roots Band, "Burritos" by Brain Failure, "Get Out (live)" by Bargain Music, "Date Rape (live)" by Fishbone, and "Waiting for My Ruca (live)" by AWOL One, Abstract Rude, and Josh Fischel. http://www.dvdtalk.com/reviews/read.php?ID=23294 9/6/2006 DVD Talk Review: Look at All the Love We Found: A Tribute to Sublime Page 4 of 5 Final Thoughts: Originally billed as an audio CD, Look at All the Love We Found: A Tribute to Sublime, was a tribute to Sublime and a benefit concert. Afterwards, another live performance was put together and recorded for a DVD concert with the same title. The concert features bands like The Ziggens, Fishbone, Unwritten Law, and many more performing covers of your favorite Sublime titles. Fans of Sublime and punk/ska music in general should be most interested in this release. I, for one, did not care for the covers and would much rather just listen to Sublime play their hits in the originally released forms. So unless you are a fan of Sublime and the punk/ska genre, this release is probably best worth skipping. Agree? Disagree? You can post your thoughts about this review on the DVD Talk forums. • Punks Don't Know Jack
Punks Don’t Know Jack This split CD from Cretin Records comes out of the gates with no holds barred punk rock. Defecation Area open the CD swinging with “Generation D.U.M.B.,” which while essentially generic 77’s punk does sound big. They remind me a little of ’90s NYC punks L.E.S. Stitches, who were one damn good band. The most off-putting thing to me about this track is that I’m really sick of punk rockers singing about how everything is dumb. They’re dumb or everyone else but them is dumb. Either way, songs about being dumb are stupid. I know, The Ramones did it with “Pinhead,” but guess what….you are not The Ramones. Defecation Area definitely hit big on the scorching “Slam Dance is Savage” and channel the Beach Boys via Social Distortion on “She Just Wanna Dance.” Defecation Area may mine ground that has been well traveled from the Dead Boys and 2 billion bands since, but they do it better than most! It’s good to see some studio recording finally making their way out for Tony Jones and The Cretin 3. They kick off their half of the disc with “Lady Frankenstein,” which has a strong Cramps undertone. The Cretin 3 essentially merge rockabilly and punk together and sprinkle some horror rock sensibility lyrically. “Bathroom Floor” really isn’t my bag. It doesn’t really rock and is too repetitive and the vocals kind of give me a migraine. Better is “Leather,” which borrows the guitar riff from Cheap Trick’s “He’s a Whore” and uses it to create a catching little ditty.

  • 2017 High Sierra Music Festival Program
WELCOME! Festivarians, music lovers, friends old and new... WELCOME to the 27th version of our annual get-together! This year, we can’t help but look back 50 years to the Summer of Love, the summer of 1967, a year that brought us the Monterey Pop Festival (with such performers as Jimi Hendrix, The Who, Otis Redding, Janis Joplin and The Grateful Dead) which became an inspiration and template for future music festivals like the one you find yourself at right now. But the hippies of that era would likely refer to what’s going on in the political climate of these United States now as a “bad trip” with the old adage “the more things change, the more they stay the same” coming back into play. Here we are in 2017 with so many of the rights and freedoms that were fought long and hard for over the past 50 years being challenged, reinterpreted or revoked seemingly at warp speed. It’s high time to embrace the two basic tenets of the counterculture movement. First is PEACE. PEACE for your fellow human, PEACE within and PEACE for our planet. The second tenet brings a song to mind - and while the Beatles Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band gets all the attention on its 50th anniversary, it’s the final track on their Magical Mystery Tour album (which came out later the same year) that contains the most apropos song for these times. ALL YOU NEED IS LOVE. LOVE more, fear less. LOVE is always our answer. Come back to LOVE.
