Amazing book. If you are into all things mafiaBy Eric YonickAmazing book. If you are into all things mafia, and have an extensive library of books on the subject, then THIS book NEEDS to be added. It is truly an insightful history into the only "Ivy League Family" centering mostly on the last and greatest of the New York mafia dons. There will never be another Godfather, Don, or Boss like the Chin, his name will forever be associated with the most historical figures within the New York underworld along the likes of Luciano, Costello, Genovese, and Gambino. A must read by all accounts.2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Plodding at times but overall an excellent tome on a little known underworld forceBy Charles S. FunkThe author takes too long developing an image of Gigante's dark side and once done really doesn't delve deeply into The Chin's criminal activities. -

CHIN: THE LIFE AND CRIMES OF MAFIA BOSS VINCENT GIGANTE DOWNLOAD FREE BOOK Larry McShane | 356 pages | 29 Nov 2016 | Kensington Publishing | 9780786037049 | English | United States Vincent The Chin Gigante: Legacy Of The Oddfather He hallucinates. When other bosses, including Gotti, went to jail in the '80s and '90s, the Chin dodged prosecution and stayed on top of the Genovese family into the new millennium — even after the feds finally put him in prison. The act ran for decades, but today it's over. He was a quiet, calculating, behind-the-scenes guy. A book about Chin Gigante who would be better known as the bathrobe, Don. Very well written and informative, consistent with other books written about gangsters from New York. Gigante and Genovese both went to prison for heroin trafficking. There was none of the pomp associated with many Mob farewells, the endless floral arrangements or lengthy funeral cortege. This book not only goes over meetings but has Chin's brother retell some events of their lives. Archived from the original on January 27, There were references to murder and conspiracy to murder; but McShane preferred to focus on the dozen psychiatrists who examined Gigante and nearly all of them came to the same conclusion: the man was crazy. Chin: The Life and Crimes of Mafia Boss Vincent Gigante urinated in public, played pinochle in storefronts, and hid a second family from his wife. Better mobster book. His legacy would cover several generations in the New York mafia, one of the most powerful but low key bosses ever.
