Garcia-Velasco2* Abstract Background: Adenomyosis is linked to infertility, but the mechanisms behind this relationship are not clearly established. Similarly, the impact of adenomyosis on ART outcome is not fully understood. Our main objective was to use ultrasound imaging to investigate adenomyosis prevalence and severity in a population of infertile women, as well as specifically among women experiencing recurrent miscarriages (RM) or repeated implantation failure (RIF) in ART. Methods: Cross-sectional study conducted in 1015 patients undergoing ART from January 2009 to December 2013 and referred for 3D ultrasound to complete study prior to initiating an ART cycle, or after ≥3 IVF failures or ≥2 miscarriages at diagnostic imaging unit at university-affiliated private IVF unit. Adenomyosis was diagnosed in presence of globular uterine configuration, myometrial anterior-posterior asymmetry, heterogeneous myometrial echotexture, poor definition of the endometrial-myometrial interface (junction zone) or subendometrial cysts. Shape of endometrial cavity was classified in three categories: 1.-normal (triangular morphology); 2.- moderate distortion of the triangular aspect and 3.- “pseudo T-shaped” morphology. Results: The prevalence of adenomyosis was 24.4 % (n =248)[29.7%(94/316)inwomenaged≥40 y.o and 22 % (154/ 699) in women aged <40 y.o., p = 0.003)]. Its prevalence was higher in those cases of recurrent pregnancy loss [38.2 % (26/68) vs 22.3 % (172/769), p < 0.005] and previous ART failure [34.7 % (107/308) vs 24.4 % (248/1015), p < 0.0001]. -

The ultrasonography is the most powerful tool for diagnosis. The treatment involves medical, surgical and assisted reproduction. Medical treatment includes clomiphene, metformin, iron & folic acid supplements along with oral- contraceptives. Surgical treatment is operative laparoscopy and assisted reproduction is achieved by IVF, GIFT & IUI etc. It is concluded from the study that the percentage prevalence of female infertility among ages was higher in age group (25-34) years (76%) and it was mostly secondary infertility (54%). The main pathological factor of female infertility in Sialkot city was PCOS, which was 52% of evaluated patients. -

In knock- out mice lacking IL-34, nephritis and systemic illness are suppressed. IL-34 fosters intrarenal macrophage accumulation via monocyte proliferation in bone marrow (which increases circulating monocytes that are recruited by chemokines into the kidney) and via intrarenal macrophage proliferation. This accumulation leads to macrophage-mediated TEC apoptosis. We also found suppression of circulating autoantibodies and glomerular antibody deposits in the knockout mice. -

Here, we demonstrate that IL-34, a cytokine highly expressed in CRC tissue, regulates the function of CAFs in a paracrine and autocrine manner. Specifically, IL-34 induces normal fibroblasts (NFs) to acquire a cellular phenotype resembling that of CAFs, while IL-34 knockdown in CAFs reduces their tumorigenic properties and proliferation. Moreover, IL-34 stimulates NFs to produce netrin-1 and b-FGF—two factors that enhance CRC cell growth and migration. Altogether, our data support the involvement of IL-34 in CRC. Also in this essay, the influence of food intake, socio-demographic and clinical characteristics on sleep quality of women with endometriosis was determined. Methods: Of the 156 infertile women approached for the study, 78 women had endometriosis and 78 were included in the control group. At first, each participant completed a checklist including questions about demographics, physical activity, reproductive and menstrual status. SQ was assessed by the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI). Dietary data were collected using a validated 147-item semi-quantitative FFQ. Results: Irregular menstrual status, menorrhagia, dysmenorrhea, pelvic pain, history of abortion, family history of endometriosis were associated with endometriosis risk (P < 0.05). In women with physical activity more than 3 h per week, high consumption of the dairy product, and fruit endometriosis is less common (P < 0.05). The total PSQI score, and the scores for subjective sleep quality, sleep latency, sleep disturbance domains were significantly different between the two groups (P < 0.05). In women with endometriosis, poor SQ was associated with dysmenorrhea, pelvic pain, dyspareunia, physical activity, and low consumption of the dairy product, fruit, and nut (p < 0.05). Conclusion: In endometriosis women, SQ was lower than healthy individuals.
