Two new species are described, Nicetosoma meforensis spec. nov. and Nicetosoma sulphurata spec. nov. The following taxonomic changes are proposed: Diacrisia niceta intermedia Rothschild, 1910 syn. nov., Diacrisia niceta mysolica Rothschild, 1915 syn. nov. and Diacrisia niceta pallida syn. nov. are synonymized with Diacrisia niceta papuana Rothschild, 1910, which itself will be raised from subspecies level to species level as Nicetosoma papuana (Rothschild, 1910) stat. nov. and the same is done with Diacrisia niceta saturata Rothschild, 1910 to Nicetosoma saturata (Rothschild, 1910) stat. nov. Rangkuman: Nama genus yang baru diusul untuk niceta group dengan sembilan spesies, yang sebelumnya dianggap termasuk dalam Spilosoma Curtis, 1825. The survey revealed that Protapanteles obliquae (Wilkinson) (Braconidae: Hymenoptera) is a potential larval parasitoid of S. obliqua which is occurring naturally on jute. This is the first record of natural parasitism of P. obliquae on S. obliqua on jute crop in India. E-mail: [email protected] Received: May 28, 2015; Revised received: September 18, 2015; Accepted: February 11, 2016 Abstract: In vitro study was conducted to test mycellial growth inhibition effect of plant extracts on Macrophomina phaseolina causing stem rot of jute as well as for feeding inhibition and mortality on 3rd instar larvae of Bihar hairy caterpillar, Spilosoma obliqua Walker. The result revealed, at 2000 ppm, acetone extracts of sunnhemp and Azera- tum conyzoides exhibited maximum of 34.44% and 41.85% mycellial growth inhibition respectively. Whereas, 83.32% and 66.67% spore germination inhibition of the fungus was observed respectively. At 5000 ppm, methanolic extracts of Crotolaria quinquefolia, garlic, curry leaf and turmeric oil recorded 35.55%, 44.44%, 50.00% and 70.00% mycellial growth inhibition of the fungus. Methanolic extracts of C. juncea, C. quinquefolia, curry leaf and garlic re- corded above 80.00% feeding inhibition on S. obliqua and larval mortality of 20.00%-44.44%. It is clear that neem, sunnhemp, garlic and turmeric extract possess antifungal, insecticidal, antifeedant properties and may be integrated for management of stem rot as well as S. -

Merr) (Lepidoptera: Erebidae, Arctiinae) E. González & H. M. Beccacece Abstract The presence of Dysschema sacrifica (Hübner, [1831]) on soybean ( Glycine max (L.) Merr) is reported for the first time. Larvae of this species were found consuming soybean leaves in soybean fields in Córdoba province, Argentina, and were able to complete their life cycle. Characteristics of adults and larvae are provided for rapid identification in the field. Due to the widespread distribution of this species within the region where soybean is more intensively cultivated in South America, we conclude that D. sacrifica is a potential soybean pest. Further studies on infestation frequency, damage levels and control by natural enemies are needed. KEY WORDS: Lepidoptera, Erebidae, Arctiidae, Dysschema sacrifica , soybean, pest, Argentina. Harper's Island Wetlands Butterflies & Moths (2020)
Introduction Harper’s Island Wetlands (HIW) nature reserve, situated close to the village of Glounthaune on the north shore of Cork Harbour is well known for its birds, many of which come from all over northern Europe and beyond, but there is a lot more to the wildlife at the HWI nature reserve than birds. One of our goals it to find out as much as we can about all aspects of life, both plant and animal, that live or visit HIW. This is a report on the butterflies and moths of HIW. Butterflies After birds, butterflies are probably the one of the best known flying creatures. While there has been no structured study of them on at HIW, 17 of Ireland’s 33 resident and regular migrant species of Irish butterflies have been recorded. Just this summer we added the Comma butterfly to the island list. A species spreading across Ireland in recent years possibly in response to climate change. Hopefully we can set up regular monitoring of the butterflies at HIW in the next couple of years. Butterfly Species Recorded at Harper’s Island Wetlands up to September 2020. The northernmost records of this species were known in Southern Thailand, on the border with Malaysia (6° N). In this article, we present the first record of Spilarctia procedra from Laos (20° N) with a description of the new subspecies Spilarctia procedra oudomsayensis ssp. nov. We also report the first record of Spilarctia gopara from Myanmar. Key words: Oriental Region, tiger moths, new subspecies, Spilarctia punctata species group. Introduction The Spilarctia punctata species group contains 13 species, the range of which expands from India and South China to the Philippines and Bali (Dubatolov & de Vos 2010). Until recently, only 2 species were known from the north of Indochina, i.e. Spilarctia gopara (Moore, 1859) and S. ummera Swinhoe, 1889 (Dubatolov & de Vos 2010). Spilarctia procedra (Swinhoe, 1907) inhabits the southern part of the Malay Peninsula and Indonesia (from Sumatra to Bali). The northernmost records of this species were known in Southern Thailand, on the border with Malaysia (6° N) (Černý & Pinratana 2009). However, we collected two individuals (male and female) of Spilarctia procedra from the north of Laos. -

Of Zoology, SPC GCA, Ajmer, Rajasthan, India Abstract: Ajmer is located in the center of Rajasthan (INDIA) between 25 0 38 “ and 26 0 58 “ North 75 0 22” East longitude covering a geographical area of about 8481sq .km hemmed in all sides by Aravalli hills . About 7 miles from the city is Pushkar Lake created by the touch of Lord Brahma. The Dargah of khawaja Moinuddin chisti is holiest shrine next to Mecca in the world. Ajmer is abode of certain flora and fauna that are particularly endemic to semi-arid and are specially adapted to survive in the dry waterless region of the state. Lepidoptera integument covered with scales forming colored patterns. Availability of moths were more during the nights and population seemed to be Confined to the light areas. Moths are insects with 2 pair of broad wings covered with microscopic scales drably coloured and held flat when at rest. They do not have clubbed antennae. They are nocturnal.
