Two new model variants of the 911, dedicated to pure driving pleasure, will visit the exact spots where the classic sports car celebrated its first interna- tional racing success almost exactly 50 years ago: In 1968, British drivers Vic Elford and David Stone secured the first victory for Porsche in the “queen of rallies” at the wheel of a 911 T. This was followed up by three further wins. An excellent weight-to-power ratio, the inherently superior traction of the rear engine sports car and its exceptional reliability were the keys to success back then. And these are the characteristics that still distinguish the 911 to this day, particularly in the new 911 Carrera T and 911 GT3 models with Touring Package. Because both follow the same purist approach: less is more. Both models are extremely athletic, but very understated in their appearance. The 911 Carrera T is based on the 911 Carrera, and its twin turbocharged six-cylinder flat engine also delivers 272 kW (370 hp). Its equipment combines sportiness with a lightweight construction: For example, the rear window and rear side windows are made from lightweight glass, while sound absorption has been reduced to a minimum and the rear seats and Porsche Communication Management (PCM) can be omitted entirely on request. At the same time, the PASM sports chassis – lowered by 20 mm – and a weight-optimised Sports Chrono Package, rear-axle steering, shorter transmission ratios from the manual gearbox and a mechanical rear differential lock are all part of the standard equipment in the rear-wheel drive vehicle, as are 20-inch Carrera S wheels, a sports exhaust system and a unique appearance. Together, these measures reduce the overall weight by 20 kg compared to a 911 Carrera with similar equipment. Porsche also focuses on the essentials in the 911 GT3 with Touring Package, but from a different per- spective. In this case, the art of omission primarily concerns the appearance of the high-performance sports car, which combines classic driving pleasure with understatement. For example, the fixed GT3 rear wing gives way to the variable rear spoiler of the 911 Carrera, which has an additional aerody- namic tear-off edge in the form of a Gurney flap. The bonnet grille has also been specially designed and is adorned with a “GT3 touring” badge. The front and rear lights are dark-tinted. The body remains unchanged with wheel arches that are 44 millimetres wider than on the 911 Carrera, along with the Dr. Ing. h.c. F. In the vehicle interior, fine leather replaces Alcantara, emphasising the GT nature of the sports car, which is available solely with a six-speed manual transmission. The new model’s unique appearance is based on the 911 Carrera and its engine delivers 272 kW (370 hp). The 911 Carrera T – at Porsche, “T” stands for Touring – also boasts several other equipment features that are not available for the 911 Carrera, including the PASM sports chassis as standard, lowered by 20 mm, the weight-optimised Sport Chrono Package, a shortened shift lever with red shift pattern and Sport-Tex seat centres. In addition, the rear-axle steering system, which was not available for the 911 Carrera, is provided as an option for the 911 Carrera T. Every aspect of the equipment in the 911 Carrera T is designed to optimise sportiness and deliver lightweight construction: The rear window and rear side windows are made from lightweight glass and the door trims feature opening loops. The sound absorption has been reduced to a minimum. The rear seats have been omitted, as has Porsche Communication Management (PCM). Both, however, are available on request at no extra cost. And the result of these lightweight construction measures? At an unladen weight of 1,425 kilograms, the two-seater is 20 kilograms lighter than a 911 Carrera with comparable equipment. A sporty design and unique appearance The design of the 911 Carrera T highlights the emotionality and sportiness of the rear-wheel-drive coupé. The body parts and wheels function as clear differentiating elements. At the front, the 911 Carrera T features an aerodynamically optimised front spoiler lip, and the Sport Design exterior mirrors are painted in Agate Grey Metallic. From the side, the new model is easily recognisable thanks to its 20-inch Carrera S wheels in Titanium Grey. The “911 Carrera T” logos represent another dis- tinctive feature at the side. The rear view is characterised by the slats in the rear lid grille, the Porsche logo, the “911 Carrera T” model designation in Agate Grey and the sports exhaust system provided Dr. Ing. h.c. F. The exterior colour options are Black, Lava Orange, Guards Red, Racing Yellow, White and Miami Blue, as well as the metallic colours Carrara White, Jet Black and GT Silver. A puristic interior concept and new interior package The appearance of the passenger compartment also has a sporty and puristic emphasis. The driver enjoys black, four-way, electric sports seats with a seat centre in Sport-Tex fabric, while the headrests feature a “911” logo stitched in black. This new Carrera T model also comes with the option to choose full bucket seats for the first time. Steering actions are completed via the GT sports steering wheel with leather rim, and the mode switch provided on the steering wheel as standard allows the driver to select different driving programmes. The shortened shift lever with shift pattern in red remains exclu- sive to the 911 Carrera T. The decorative trims on the dashboard and doors are black, as are the door opening loops. A new addition is the T interior package, which creates an even sportier look with the contrasting colours of Racing Yellow, Guards Red or GT Silver. These colours can be used to add visual accents on various interior components, such as the seat belts, the “911” logo on the headrests, the door opening loops or the centres of the Sport-Tex seats. Improved weight-to-power ratio plus enhanced performance The six-cylinder flat engine with a displacement of three litres and twin turbocharging generates an output of 272 kW (370 hp) and a maximum torque of 450 Nm, delivering between 1,750 rpm and 5,000 rpm. The weight-to-power ratio has been improved to 3.85 kg/hp, ensuring enhanced perfor- mance and more agile driving dynamics. Thanks to the shorter rear-axle gear ratio and mechanical differential lock, the 911 Carrera T can sprint from zero to 100 km/h in 4.5 seconds – 0.1 seconds faster than the 911 Carrera Coupé.

Porsche celebrates a historic moment at the Geneva Motor Show, which takes place from 7 to 17 March 2019: precisely 70 years ago, the young brand introduced itself to an international public audience for the first time. That spectacular première would be followed by many more over the decades – in each case with the sportiest models of the era, in a Porsche tradition that has been upheld right up to today. To celebrate the 70th anniversary of its debut in Geneva, the sports car manufacturer will present the eighth generation of the iconic 911, in Cabriolet form; at the same time, the 718 Cayman T and 718 Boxster T will also celebrate their world première. 70 years ago, on 17 March 1949, it was the 356 Coupé and the 356 Cabriolet from the series production of Gmünd (Austria) that Porsche presented at its small stand in the main hall. There are many stories to recount and history has been written as well. The development of the Clubs goes hand in hand with the success story of the Porsche brand. One would not be possible without the other. With 60 years of Club history, it is simply impossible to portray all Clubs in a way that does justice to each. Based on the stamp of recognition that was introduced and awarded by Porsche AG in accordance with the foundation date and/or recognition date, we have embarked on a fascinating journey through the annals of Club history and the development of Porsche as a company. The spirit and purpose of the Club – as can be read in the Club’s founding articles – is “...to bring to- gether all Porsche drivers in a spirit of friendship and camaraderie ...” After Hohensyburg, more Porsche Clubs quickly spring up throughout West Germany.

    newsroom History May 10, 2017 The magnificent four Imagine you’re at the Targa Florio. And imagine the heroes of yore – Elford, Linge, van Lennep and Steckkönig – were driving once more. In a Porsche, of course. In 2016 they did it again. Herbert Linge At 88 years of age, it is not everyone who can still change their shoes standing up. Herbert Linge can. With one hand propped on a bale of straw, he pulls the old loafer from his right foot and slips on a “brand new” old racing shoe. Then comes the left. They are quite special shoes – made by his old friend Francesco “Ciccio” Liberto. The shoemaker from Cefalù knows almost all of the old warriors, and many racing drivers had tailor-made, soft, slim pairs made by the gifted leather worker years ago. Linge had three pairs. Two of them wore out in endless high-speed battles, but one pair he has preserved. So far he has worn them just one time – for the film shoots for Steve McQueen’s epic “Le Mans”. And now again today: Once more he is driving an original section of the Targa Florio, once the wildest and most dangerous road race in the world. In an old, distinguished car – the Porsche 718 RS 60 Spyder. For special occasions some people like to slip on a suit and tie – Linge prefers his new old shoes. Four Targa Florio legends back together in Sicily Everyone is feeling a sense of occasion – not just Linge, but also Gijs van Lennep (76), Günther Steckkönig (80) and Vic Elford (81).
