At last we are starting to get a little sunshine and winter will be in the past for 12 months. Can’t wait. Our heating bills will start to reduce. Very sad that I have to report that we have lost three very good members since my last report. Bob Johnston aged 77 passed away on the 18th August. Bob was the clubs 2nd President from 1991 to 1997 and a very good leader that set the club in a progressive way. He was a Life Member. His funeral was well attended by many friends and many of his Army personnel dressed in uniforms bearing their service medals. Fred Champion passed away on August 31st following a long stay in a nursing facility. Fred was one of the early members, along with Joy, to join the club. Fred was very popular man who assisted the club in various fields for many years which earned him a Life membership in 2001. His funeral attracted over 200 friends including his trucking mate Colin Merrett and his wife Shirley all the way from Nhill, Victoria. It was great to see many ACMC members attend along with Keith and Helen Warren from the Playford CM club and Helen Hamp from the Southern club. Margaret Treadrea, in her late 70s a very popular member, passed away on the 15th September. Margaret was hospitalised following a fall at home. Our sincere condolences are passed onto the families of these three great members. I have to also report that member Dot Burke is not well at present and we hope she can get back to good health soon. On a brighter note I wish to advise anyone who likes ballad singers, can see Pete Smith at the Marion RSL on Saturday 3rd November at 1.30pm to 4.30pm. Pete is noted for his bird calling ability which he incorporates into a few of his songs. Pete is from sunny Queensland. $15 entry fee. My beloved wife Shirley has recovered well following a fall onto a concrete path on the 30th August The Adelaide Country Music Club Inc., meets at ‘COUNTRY CALL’ IS THE NEWSLETTER OF the SLOVENIAN CLUB ADELAIDE THE ADELAIDE COUNTRY MUSIC CLUB 11 LaSalle St, Dudley Park (off Pym St.) INC.
