BIBB COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT TO CELEBRATE 2021 SPRING COMMENCEMENT ON MAY 26-28; CEREMONIES TO BE STREAMED LIVE. The Bibb County School District will celebrate 2021 spring commencement ceremonies on Wednesday, May 26 through Friday, May 28. All ceremonies will be held at the Macon Coliseum, 200 Coliseum Drive, Macon. As in previous years, each of the graduation ceremonies will be streamed live at www.bcsdk12.net. This decision was made collaboratively by the high schools in order to maintain a consistent practice throughout the District. Instead, each high school will plan alternate events to celebrate seniors. New Laptops Available for All Students Students who need to swap out their old laptops for a new laptop may return the old laptops to the school Monday- Friday from 8:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. Parents must be present to sign the laptop contract. If the old laptop has any damages to the monitor, keyboard or charger the repair fees must be paid before a new laptop is issued. Students who attend to school face-to-face may request a laptop contract from Mrs. S. Johnson in the media center to take home to parents for signature, return the contract the next day and request a pass from their teacher to visit the media center to receive a new a laptop by the end of the day. Download Elective and Pathway course offerings (1).pdf pdf 6.1 MB National Honor Society Selection Procedures The Howard High chapter of the National Honor Society is a duly chartered and aliated chapter of this prestigious national organization. Membership is open to those students who meet the required standards in four areas of evaluation: scholarship, leadership, service, and character. Standards for selection are established by the national oce of NHS and have been revised to meet our local chapter needs. Students are selected to be members by a 5-member Faculty Council, appointed by the principal, which bestows this honor upon qualied students on behalf of the faculty of our school each year. To be eligible for membership, a student must be in the 11th or 12th grade, must have been in attendance at Howard High School for at least one full semester, must have a 90.00 or above cumulative grade average as calculated to be named an Honor Graduate as set forth by the Bibb County School District, must have enrolled in Honors-level or above courses when that option is available, and must have taken at least one Advanced Placement, Gifted/Advanced Content, or academic Dual Enrollment course over his or her high school career. Those students who meet these criteria are invited to complete a Student Activity Information Form that provides the Faculty Council with information regarding the candidate’s leadership and service. A history of leadership experiences and participation in school or community service is also required. These forms are carefully reviewed by the Faculty Council to determine membership. A majority vote of the Council is necessary for selection. Candidates are then notied regarding their selection or non- selection. Following notication, a formal induction ceremony is held by the school to recognize all the newly selected members. Once inducted, new members are required to maintain the same level of performance (or better) in all four criteria that led to their selection. This obligation includes attending chapter meetings, participating in the chapter service projects, maintaining the 90 or above cumulative average, enrolling in Honors-level or above courses when that option is available and enrolling in at least one Advanced Placement or academic Dual Enrollment course each year. Those students meeting the eligibility requirements will receive notices via school email and or packet in the mail starting in March. The Student Activity Information Form will be due back to Mr. Partain in room 136 by Friday, March 19, 2021. TLast week I boldly opined that to get a home game we would need to beat the Raiders – which happened – and have results go our way – which didn’t. The Storm did not beat the Panthers and blew the Minor Premiership, buggering everything. The Roosters, as predicted, were way too good for the Eels and snatched the Minor Premiership. Souths ended their slump by beating a Tigers side that barely looked interested to finish third. The Sharks at least made me look semi-competent, beating the Dogs to go fourth. The Panthers, as mentioned, pulled off an upset no-one saw coming, and that left them in fifth. The Broncos crushed Manly and rose to sixth, only failing to edge the Panthers – having finished on the same points and differential – because they had more points conceded. The Dragons beat Newcastle yet dropped to seventh. All of which saw us, despite our win over Canberra, at an almost disappointing eighth. Being there is the only thing, and our last finals experience in 2011 took us all the way to the final from the same spot, so why not again? It’s doubtful even if I wish I could say differently, but I cannot see it happening.

    The Newsletter of the Atlanta 400 Baseball Fan Club ________________________________________________________________________________ February 2019 By Dave Badertscher; photos by Linda Lovejoy The Atlanta 400 Baseball Fan Club held its annual Gameboree banquet and fundraiser on Saturday, January 19, 2019, at the Atlanta Marriott Northwest at Galleria. This year’s theme was “All-Stars, Gold Gloves and National League Honors.” More than 180 Braves fans, honored guests, and Braves officials turned out for the Fan Club’s largest event of the year. Emcee Paul Byrd (pictured below) was a big hit. The reception and silent auction opened at 5:00 with a fine selection of Braves and other baseball memorabilia. Thanks go to Silent Auction and Raffle Coordinator Nate Morgan and his crew, as well as to Fan Club members who generously donated items. As usual, all proceeds go to the Phil Niekro Scholarship Fund. This year guests in the Auction Room were entertained by Braves organist Matthew Kaminski. Quite a nice treat! Once everyone was seated for dinner in the Cobb Ballroom, Fan Club President Howard Evans introduced the guests and award winners at the head table. Atlanta’s favorite tenor, Timothy Miller, sang “The Lord’s Prayer.” During dinner folks enjoyed a slide presentation highlighting the Fan Club’s many fun and worthwhile activities over the past year. Following dinner, Howard thanked Club members who were involved in planning, organizing, and setting up this year’s event, especially Gameboree Program Coordinator Wayne Coleman and Logistics Coordinator Judy Messer. Howard talked about upcoming Club activities in 2019, including six monthly social gatherings in the SunTrust Cabanas, our Major League trip to Washington, DC, on June 21-23, and minor league trips to see the Rome Braves and the Gwinnett Stripers this summer.
