Vapor-Liquid Equilibrium Measurements of the Binary Mixtures Nitrogen + Acetone and Oxygen + Acetone
Vapor-liquid equilibrium measurements of the binary mixtures nitrogen + acetone and oxygen + acetone Thorsten Windmann1, Andreas K¨oster1, Jadran Vrabec∗1 1 Lehrstuhl f¨urThermodynamik und Energietechnik, Universit¨atPaderborn, Warburger Straße 100, 33098 Paderborn, Germany Abstract Vapor-liquid equilibrium data of the binary mixtures nitrogen + acetone and of oxygen + acetone are measured and compared to available experimental data from the literature. The saturated liquid line is determined for both systems at specified temperature and liquid phase composition in a high-pressure view cell with a synthetic method. For nitrogen + acetone, eight isotherms between 223 and 400 K up to a pressure of 12 MPa are measured. For oxygen + acetone, two isotherms at 253 and 283 K up to a pressure of 0.75 MPa are measured. Thereby, the maximum content of the gaseous component in the saturated liquid phase is 0.06 mol/mol (nitrogen) and 0.006 mol/mol (oxygen), respectively. Based on this data, the Henry's law constant is calculated. In addition, the saturated vapor line of nitrogen + acetone is studied at specified temperature and pressure with an analytical method. Three isotherms between 303 and 343 K up to a pressure of 1.8 MPa are measured. All present data are compared to the available experimental data. Finally, the Peng-Robinson equation of state with the quadratic mixing rule and the Huron-Vidal mixing rule is adjusted to the present experimental data for both systems. Keywords: Henry's law constant; gas solubility; vapor-liquid equilibrium; acetone; nitrogen; oxygen ∗corresponding author, tel.: +49-5251/60-2421, fax: +49-5251/60-3522, email: [email protected] 1 1 Introduction The present work is motivated by a cooperation with the Collaborative Research Center Tran- sregio 75 "Droplet Dynamics Under Extreme Ambient Conditions" (SFB-TRR75),1 which is funded by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG). -

Enviroinfo 2014 in Oldenburg
Proceedings of the 28th EnviroInfo 2014 Conference, Oldenburg, Germany September 10-12, 2014 Switch off the light in the living room, please! – Making eco-feedback meaningful through room context information Nico Castelli1, Gunnar Stevens2, Timo Jakobi3, Niko Schönau4 Abstract Residential and commercial buildings are responsible for about 40% of the EU’s total energy con- sumption. However, conscious, sustainable use of this limited resource is hampered by a lack of visibility and materiality of consumption. One of the major challenges is enabling consumers to make informed decisions about energy consumption, thereby supporting the shift to sustainable ac- tions. With the use of Energy-Management-Systems it is possible to save up to 15%. In recent years, design approaches have greatly diversified, but with the emergence of ubiquitous- and con- text-aware computing, energy feedback solutions can be enriched with additional context infor- mation. In this study, we present the concept “room as a context” for eco-feedback systems. We investigate opportunities of making current state-of-the-art energy visualizations more meaningful and demonstrate which new forms of visualizations can be created with this additional infor- mation. Furthermore, we developed a prototype for android-based tablets, which includes some of the presented features to study our design concepts in the wild. 1. Introduction Residential and commercial buildings are responsible for about 40% of the EU’s total energy con- sumption [1]. With disaggregated real-time energy consumption feedback, dwellers can be enabled to make better informed energy related decisions and therefore save energy. In general, empirical studies have shown that savings up to 15% [2] can be achieved. -

Oldenburg Public Prosecutor's Office Braunschweig Public Prosecutor's
Oldenburg Public Prosecutor’s Office Braunschweig Public Prosecutor’s Office Hannover Customs Investigation Department JOINT PRESS RELEASE No 25 of 28.11.2008 Hannover Customs Investigation Department concludes biggest investigation yet into organised cigarette smuggling Oldenburg Public Prosecutor’s Office: ‘Criminal organisation broken up’ Enquiries directed in Germany against 79 suspects 28 arrests made Over 500 000 cigarettes seized across Europe €108 million in lost tax revenues The German customs authorities have succeeded, after a two-year joint effort involving investigators in Belgium and Greece, in smashing a criminal organisation specialised in cigarette smuggling, seizing a total of 640 million untaxed cigarettes throughout Europe. The enquiry, which has now been concluded and in which 79 suspects were investigated in Germany alone, was led by the Oldenburg Public Prosecutor’s Office. A separate set of investigations by the Braunschweig Public Prosecutor’s Office is still ongoing. In 2007 German customs confiscated 465 million cigarettes in all (compared with 415 million in 2006). The overall quantity of 640 million cigarettes seized in the course of a single sweep underlines the potential of organised crime gangs. It is made up of 260 million cigarettes seized in Germany and a further 380 million in neighbouring European countries. This order of magnitude testifies to the not inconsiderable risk to the exchequer in the EU Member States concerned. If the seized cigarettes had been taxed normally, they would have brought in over €100 million in taxes. The market power of the criminal gang in question also constituted a serious threat to the legal trade. It was able to place even unknown brands on the (black) market in a very short space of time.
