We say thank you To all of the people who invited someone to come to Connect 2 Church Sunday this past Sunday. The victory was in inviting someone and not in whether they came or not. I asked three people and only one came but I was blessed by God in the asking. I hope and pray you were also. We also want to say thank you to the people who brought morning tea for last Sunday and to those who have invited their guests to come again this week. Spirit 14 We are locked in for St Peters and are busily getting organised. Our speakers this year will be Bishop Stuart Robinson and Kate Jutsum from SOZO Ministries. A brochure for Spirit 14 is now available from Shelley. Should be a great weekend with a worship team from across local churches and too life changing to miss! Parish Bus Just a reminder that people need to have a light rigid license to be legally able to drive our parish bus. For our insurance purposes anyone driving the bus needs to be approved by the parish and a copy of their license on file with us. If you need to know more about this please see Shelley. It is always wise to book the bus well ahead so as to ensure that it is available for your use at the time you would like to use it. Prayer At our new prayer gathering on Tuesday afternoon at 4.30pm, we focused on the scripture passage 2 Chronicles 7:11-18. A key verse in this passage is “if my people who are called after my name humble themselves, pray, seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sins and heal their land.” (2 Chron 7:14) When we look at this passage we can see that God is both attentive to what is happening in our lives and that he is near to us when we come to him humbly, prayerfully, devotedly and in a spirit of repentance. God is also honoured when we hold him in awe and bring before him our prayers as well as our thanksgiving (Psalm 50:23; Philippians 4:6; Colossians 4:2). OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD Collection of donations has commenced for this years gift boxes. Any donations especially school items such as exercise books and coloured pencils would be greatly appreciated. DIOCESAN CELEBRATION GATHERING Celebrating 150 years since unstallation of Bishop Mesac Thomas as first Bishop of goulburn with a Procession to Cathedral 2pm, Evensong of thanksgiving, Historical displays and afternoon tea on Sunday 6th April.     ETERNAL VISION MARKS OUR 150TH BIRTHDAY Thu 14 March 2013 St Saviours Cathedral was packed with clergy and parishioners from across the Diocese as well as citizens of Goulburn, countless politicians and other VIPs as the Anglican Diocese of Canberra and Goulburn’s marked its 150th birthday. The date marked the 150th anniversary of Queen Victoria’s promulgation of the Anglican Diocese of Goulburn along with the City of Goulburn on March 14, 1863. Bishop Stuart Robinson preached on the importance of having an eternal vision, reflecting on the pioneering ministry of the Reverend Robert Cartwright and the Diocese’s first Bishop Mesac Thomas. “As Cartwright and Thomas… lived as ambassadors and citizens of that heavenly city – and in so doing loved, served, and blessed those with whom they toiled and struggled, may we - as conduits of God’s love and grace similarly serve and bless the people of this great community”, he said. “And may these 150th celebrations fuel our longing for that great and glorious eternal celebration; in God’s presence, with God’s people, through God’s Son. That’s the vision!” The Bible readings were delivered by the Governor of NSW, Professor Marie Bashir and the Mayor of Goulburn, Geoff Kettle. The church service was followed by a civic ceremony under a marquee in the Cathedral grounds. A highlight was the cutting of the city of Goulburn’s 150th birthday cake by Bailey Tiyce, a St Joseph’s student who turned 10 on the day (March 14), the New South Wales Governor Marie Bashir and Terry Newton, daughter of former mayor Thomas P.
