Moray Council is preparing a funding bid to the European Fisheries Fund for the project and is keen to get the views of harbour users and the local community ahead of the bid being submitted. The council has already earmarked £107,000 towards the overall cost and additional funding is being sought from other sources, including the EFF. The harbours team have committed to designing the new pontoon system in conjunction with the harbour users and community of Findochty. People are being invited to share their own ideas during the event which will run from 10am to 12 noon at two venues in Findochty – the Howf at the harbour and at the village hall. Moray Council’s harbours manager, Duncan Brown, said: “The timescale is tight in relation to submitting the funding bid to the EFF and we want to get input from harbour users and local people prior to the detailed application being made.” Moray Council area stretches from Tomintoul in the south to the shores of the Moray Firth, from Keith in the east to Forres in the west.
