Date: 18.06.2015 Abstract Title Rise and Fall of The Bengali Entrepreneurship: A Case Study of The Tea Plantation Industry In Himalayan and Sub Himalayan Region of Bengal (1879 – 2000) The ownership and control of the tea planting and manufacturing companies in the Himalayan and sub – Himalayan region of Bengal were enjoyed by two communities, to wit the Europeans and the Indians especially the Bengalis migrated from various part of undivided Eastern and Southern Bengal. In the true sense the Europeans were the harbinger in this field. Assam by far the foremost region in tea production was closely followed by Bengal whose tea producing areas included the hill areas and the plains of the Terai in Darjeeling district, the Dooars in Jalpaiguri district and Chittagong. -

ANNUAL ACTION PLANS FOR FLOOD/FLASH FLOOD, STORM ETC FOR THE YEAR 20013-14 OFFICE OF THE BLOCK DEVELOPMENT OFFICER, MAL JALPAIGURI. A. Introduction:- Mal Development Block is the largest block within Mal Sub-Division comprising of twelve Gram Panchayat and covering an area of 545.99sq.km.It is located at a distance of 65 km away from Jalpaiguri main town and 45km away from Siliguri.It is one of the budding tourist hubs. It share its boundary in the north with Darjeeeling District.The topography is crisscrossed with the fast flowing rivulets,rivers and hills.The major rivers flowing through this Block are Leesh,Gheesh,Chel,Teesta,Mal Nuddy,Neora Nuddy and there are also small rivulets bisecting the Block.These fast flowing river and rivulets have made this Block prone o flood and flash floods during the monsoon season causing devastation to major parts of the agricultural lands and also threating the human habitats. Besides, this Block has a nice blend of agricultural land,tea gardens and lush green forests.The demography of Block comprises of diverse cultural groups e.g Bengali,Nepali,Muslims and tribals like Mech,Oraons etc creating unique cultural harmony.The serene and tantalizing beauty of this block and the vicinity region has always allured the people from far off. Among the complex phenomenon, `Natural Disaster` is one of them. We the people of this world are servient persons of nature. So we have to adapt ourselves to or before the ductility of nature. This ductility of nature contains flood, cyclone, flash flood, flood, storm, hailstorm, earthquake and the voracious Tsunami. -
