1. Introduction and Pipeline Legislation
1. INTRODUCTION AND PIPELINE LEGISLATION Introduction 1.1. Bord Gáis Eireann propose to construct a new pipeline between Beattock, Scotland and Gormanston, Ireland. The project is called ‘Scotland to Ireland – The Second Gas Interconnector.’ The pipeline will provide additional capacity to supply Ireland with natural gas from the North Sea and other international gas reserves via the existing Transco pipeline network. 1.2. The main elements of the project include an extension to Beattock Compressor Station, a new pipeline between Beattock and Brighouse, an extension to Brighouse Compressor Station and a new sub-sea pipeline between Brighouse and Gormanston. 1.3. This Environmental Statement examines the potential interaction between the Scottish Land Pipeline and the environment. The Scottish Land Pipeline will be constructed between Beattock and Brighouse. The land pipeline system will comprise a 36 inch (914mm) diameter pipeline approximately 50miles in length, and four Block Valve Stations (BV’s). The proposed pipeline route is shown in Figure 1.2. Background 1.4. Bord Gáis Eireann and the Irish Department of Public Enterprise initiated a project called Gas 2025 in November 1997, to plan the possible need for further transmission pipelines to meet forecast growth in demand to the year 2025. 1.5. In Ireland, gas is sourced from the Kinsale Head Gas Field off the south east coast, and the existing Interconnector pipeline. The Kinsale Head Gas Field is now in final depletion, placing increasing importance on the Interconnector pipeline. This first Interconnector pipeline was constructed in 1993 and runs from Beattock in Dumfries and Galloway, through to Loughshinny in Ireland. -

The tours use a specially prepared night tours vehicle, complete with external mounted thermal camera and internal viewing screens. January 2020 EXECUTIVE SUMMARY South West Scotland Transport Study: Initial Appraisal Case for Change Executive Summary Background In the 2017/18 Programme for Government, the Scottish Government committed to commence work for the second Strategic Transport Projects Review (STPR2) in the Dumfries and Galloway area. Responding to this commitment, AECOM and Stantec were commissioned to carry out the first stage in the Scottish Transport Appraisal Guidance (STAG) process, researching the case for investment in potential transport interventions in the South West of Scotland through an Initial Appraisal: Case for Change study. The key aim of the work is to consider the rationale for improvements to road, rail, public transport and active travel on key strategic corridors in the South West of Scotland, including those served by the A75 and A77, with a focus on access to the ports at Cairnryan. The study area includes Dumfries & Galloway and the southern extents of South Ayrshire and East Ayrshire and has focused on the following strategic corridors: • Gretna – Stranraer • South of Ayr – Stranraer • Dumfries – Cumnock Figure 1: South West Scotland Transport Study - Study Area • Dumfries – Lockerbie and Moffat Approach The Initial Appraisal: Case for Change constitutes the first stage of STAG and involves the following core tasks: • Analysis of Problems and Opportunities: Establish the evidence base for problems and issues linked to transport on key corridors across the South West of Scotland drawing on targeted data analysis and engagement with the public and key stakeholders; • Objective Setting: Develop initial Transport Planning Objectives to encapsulate the aims of any interventions and to guide the development of solutions; and • Option Generation, Sifting and Development: Develop a long list of multi-modal options to address the identified problems and opportunities, and undertake a process of option sifting and development leading to the identification of a short list of interventions recommended for progression towards Preliminary Appraisal. -

Northeast Nebraska Master Gardeners The Green Patch Cottage Gardens By Robin Jones , Madison County Master Gardener Old-fashioned plants and flowers have been making a big comeback recently. For someone like me who loves historic homes and Victorian style, this is right up my alley. With a little creativity and planning, you can design a cottage garden of your own. Cottage gardening started in England and was originally meant to oppose the very ornate, formal grandeur of English January 1, 2014 estate gardens. Cottage gardens are informal and densely planted. Their charm is that they look unplanned and rustic. Imagine flowers and vines weaving together as though they sprung up on their own. You will need to choose flowers, greenery, and traditional ma- terials when you plan your design. Flower-lined paths, shrub- bery and borders that go right up to the house, vine-covered fences and arbors all contribute to your look. The most common flowers in a cottage garden are roses. After that, diversity is key to creating the cozy, inviting charm of Volume 6, Issue 1 this style. Lavender, daisies, hollyhocks, foxglove, peonies, phlox, and snapdragons are good choices. You’ll want to choose flowers that grow tall and look a little wild. By selecting two or three hues and working with the various shades along their spectrums, you will have a harmonious color scheme that doesn’t look too deliberate. Purples, pinks, and blues with occasion- al pops of bright yellows and oranges make a good mix. Next you will want to work in your greenery.
