Under the above, the goYornor of Kansa~:; was called uvou for one regi ment of mounted Yolunteers to serve. for a period of six months, unles~ sooner discharged, against the hostile Indians on the plains. This regiment, (designated the 19th Kansas cavalry,) according to rolls in this office, is now in seryice, with the following organization: ·1· colonel, I lieutenant colonel, 3 majors, 1 surgeon, 2 assistant surgeons, 1 regimental adjutant, 1 regimental quartermaster, 1 regimental com missary of subsistence, 12 captains, 12 first lieutenants, a.nd 11 second lieutenants. Total commissioned, 46; enlisted men, 1,167; aggr(;'gate, 1,213. Muster-in rolls and enlistments are being rapidly receiYed, indicating the completion of the regiment at an early day. THOJ.\-IAS lH.
