The Boys & Girls Club is an award winning after-school and summer program that provides a place for kids to learn and grow with a wide array of activities that inspire and enable them to reach their full potential. The Boys & Girls Club has 500 registered Club members and serves over 2,600 different children each year. The Boys & Girls Club serves 40,000 snack and meals annually to the youth of Greeneville & Greene County. For more than 19 years, the Boys & Girls Club has been in the forefront of youth development for our community, working with young people from many different economic, social and family circumstances. We are dedicated to ensuring that all of our community’s youngsters have greater access to quality programs and services that will enhance their lives and shape their futures with hope and opportunity. Petro Services wins championship at the 14th Annual Bob Kesling Boys & Girls Club Celebrity Golf Classic

The Petro Services team shot a 54 to claim the Championship at the 14th Annual Bob Kesling Boys & Girls Club Celebrity Golf Classic. The event was held June 9, 2017 at Link Hills Country Club. The tournament had large field of golfers with many former college and pro athletes and coaches participating in this year’s event. The Petro Services team blistered the course with a 54 from a team consisting of Scott Honeycutt, Brian Foster, Randy Lindsey & Joseph Powers. Team runner-up was the Greeneville Federal Bank team consisting of Brandon Hull, Bob Taliferro, Bart Hartsell, Johnny Honeycutt and Lexi Humbert. C&C Millwright finished third in the first flight with a 55 with a team of Jordan Damron, Brad McConnell, Jack Orr, Mitch Myers and Tennessee Vols basketball player Lew Evans. Summers Taylor captured the 1st Flight Championship with a 60 in a scorecard playoff over Oil Express and Greeneville Light & Power System. Summers Taylor was led by Grant Summers, Britt Neas, Greg Cox, Alex Merritt and Vol Network announcer Bob Kesling. Oil Express consisted of Linda Stroud, Carol Fuller, Karen Manis, Vicki Falyn and Duke Blue Devils Assistant Basketball Coach Al Brown. The Greeneville Light & Power team consisted of Bill Carroll, Stacy Bolton, Dwayne Wells, Brent Duggar and former UT Vols and Cincinnati Bengals Dewey Warren. Takoma Regional Hospital took the second flight with a 63 behind the play of Jack Lister, Brett Owen, Tammy Albright, Klint Albright and former UT All-American and Washington Redskins All-Pro Eddie Brown. Landair was the second flight runner up behind the play of Sasha Catron, Brad Starkey, EJ Johnson, Matt Anderson and former UT Vols and Atlanta Falcons running back Haskel Stanback. Other celebrities that participated in this year’s social and golf event included ETSU Football Coach Carl Torbush, former Chicago White Sox pitcher Paul Patterson, UT Football and Baseball start Condredge Holloway, Mike Stratton former UT Vol and a member of the All Time AFL All Star team, Tusculum Coaches Jerry Odom, Devin Carter and Nick Pasqua, Vol Network announcers Bobby Rader and Mickey Dearstone, former UT Vols & Kansas City Chief wide receiver Anthony Hancock, former UT Volunteer All-American Al Dorsey, UT Vol, College Hall of Famer and NFL Linebacker Steve Kiner, Former UT, AFL and NFL defensive back Glenn Glass, former UT Vols wide receiver Johnny Mills and former UT Basketball player Drew Clemmons. Well know racing and football announcer Dr. Jerry Punch, Former Vol standout Clark Duncan, former UT basketball player Jon Higgins, Carson Newman football coach Mike Turner, former UT Vols football player Tony Wilhoit, Penn State and Pittsburgh Steelers running back Leroy Thompson and former UT Vols Linebacker AJ Johnson rounded out the field of celebrities playing in this year’s event. Prior to the golf tourney on Friday, Drew Hall took the top honors in the Putting Contest sponsored by Greeneville Federal Bank. Other individual winners from the event included Nick Pasqua winning the long drive (#4). Closest to the hole contests were won by John Hawkins (#3), S. D. Hira (#6), Mickey Dearstone (#14) and Carol Fuller (#16). Top honors for the Holston Gases Pot of Orange went to Jordan Danron, Tim Shelton and Grant Summers. and the Dakota Packaging Charity Ball team winners were Blalock/ Newport Paving. Food at the golf ball drop was event was provided by Fatz Café, Captain D’s, Pizza Inn, and Fatz Café, C&C Millwright, Summers Taylor and Ingles Markets provided the food for the tournament. This annual event benefits the local Boys & Girls Club and was title sponsored by SumiRiko Tennessee and Landair. On Thursday night prior to the event the Boys & Girls Club held their 2nd annual Golf Ball Drop sponsored by Johnson City Toyota, Pizza Inn and Captain D’s. The golf balls were dropped by Sevier County Choppers on the 18th fairway with a chance for participants to win up to $5,000 cash. Gary Garner was the big winner from the golf ball drop as his ball was the closest to the hole and he won the $5,000 cash prize. The Caribbean Cowboys provided entertainment at the Golf Ball Drop social event and Pepsi furnished the beverages for the event. On Friday, the Golf Classic event started with a lunch provided by Fatz Café and followed by a round of golf and the evening was capped off with a buffet dinner sponsored by Forward Air, Cook’s Mechanical Services and Takoma Regional Hospital. Other major sponsors included C&C Millwright, Grand Rental Station, Summers Taylor, The Vol Network and Tom & Carla Bewley.
