CRAIG PINKERTON Associate SID/Basketball In his eighth year at Tennessee is Associate Sports Information Director Craig Pinkerton. A 1994 graduate of Kansas State University, Pinkerton has been work- ing with the men’s basketball team since 2000. The Wichita, Kan., native came to Tennessee after spending two years as an Assistant SID at K-State, where he served as the primary contact for men’s basketball and the secondary contact for football. Prior to that, Pinkerton spent four years at the University of Kansas, including three as an Assistant SID. TOM SATKOWIAK Assistant SID/Baseball Tom Satkowiak was named Assistant Sports Information Director at Tennessee in September 2005. A Bay City, Mich., native, Satkowiak spent two years as a graduate assistant at UT before being promoted to the full-time position. Satkowiak works with the Vols’ base- ball team and accompanied the squad to the 2005 College World Series. A 2002 UT communications/public relations graduate, Satkowiak received his master’s in sport studies from Tennessee in 2005. Satkowiak and his wife, the former Brooke Tilley of Athens, reside in Knoxville. Below the press box, six new panels display some of the "nest to ever don the Orange and White-- Gen. Robert R. Neyland, Al Wilson, Reggie White, Peyton Manning, John- ny Majors and Doug Atkins. Most noticeable from the outside are the approx- imately 700,000 bricks that totally transformed the look of the stadium’s north and west sides. Standing in the middle of that transformation is the majestic Gate 21 plaza area. Six lofty archways dominate the entrance, which doubles during the work week as a key campus trans- portation hub. No doubt the tra#c on game days is just as hectic. (Neyland Stadium) General • Saturday’s attendance at Neyland Stadium: 21,159 • Tennessee's all-time record improved 848-395-53. UT ranks 10th all-time in wins among NCAA Division I programs and second among current Southeastern Conference teams. • Saturday was the ninth meeting in the all-time series between the Vols and Tigers. Missouri leads the all-time series, 5-4, while Tennessee has now won two consecutive meetings. • Tennessee is now 98-20-5 all-time in home openers. Vol Captains/Coin Toss • Tennessee’s team captain for Saturday’s game was redshirt senior OL Brandon Kennedy. • Missouri won the toss and deferred to the second half. Tennessee received and defended the South goal. Winning Streak • Dating back to last season, Tennessee has won eight consecutive games. That marks the program’s longest win streak since an 11-game win streak spanning between the 2015 and 2016 seasons. • It’s the second-longest win streak since the 1998 nation championship season. • As of the end of Saturday’s game, Tennessee is tied for the longest winning streak in the FBS with Notre Dame (Bye Week) and Air Force (playing Navy at 6 p.m.). Margin of Victory • Tennessee’s 23-point margin of victory marked its largest over an SEC opponent since Nov. 19, 2016 – a 63-37 win over Missouri. WHEREAS, when it is once again "Football Time In Tennessee" on September 4, 1999 when our beloved national champion, University of Tennessee Volunteers, take the field at historic Neyland Stadium to begin the successful defense of that title playing Wyoming, a familiar voice, that of John Ward who has retired as the Vol radio network football, will be sadly missed. This voice has thrilled and delighted the faithful fans for 31 wonderful years and one that each person whose blood runs BIG ORANGE has come to rely on for expertise and insight; and WHEREAS, we are also deeply saddened that he will retire his basketball duties at the end of the current season; and WHEREAS, John began his illustrious announcing career, providing commentary for his fraternity intramural games and insightful thoughts for high school football games for the Knoxville Journal, while a student at Tennessee; and WHEREAS, Mr. Ward received his Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Tennessee and his law degree from UT in 1954, and started announcing and selling radio advertisements; and HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION 127 003643 -1- WHEREAS, John's historic first broadcast of a UT basketball game came in 1958, and, after a brief time in the United States Army, he returned to Knoxville and worked in an advertising
