CO IS UN V T A Y D JORDAN RIVER C OMMISSION JORDAN RIVER SPOTLIGHTSPOTLIGHT LEGACY NATURE PRESERVE The Legacy Nature Preserve contains 2,100 acres of bare mudflats, seasonal wet meadow, deep emergent marshes, and meandering open water channels. The preserve links the Great Salt Lake ecosystem to the Wasatch Mountain ecosystems. The preserve is not open to the public, however, it can be viewed from the Legacy Parkway trail. 2100 WEST 500 SOUTH, WOODS CROSS, UT 84087 CHEVRON MILE TRAIL The Chevron Mile Trail connects the southern end of the Legacy Parkway trail to the northern end of the Jordan River Parkway trail. The first mile was constructed in Davis County in 2010. The cultural monuments and gardens symbolize the true spirit of democracy and world peace, brotherly love, history, literature, and the cultural heritage of many lands. Currently, 28 countries are represented in the gardens. 900 WEST 1000 SOUTH, SALT LAKE CITY, UT 84104 900 SOUTH STORMWATER WETLAND The 900 South Stormwater Wetland is an enhanced 1.5-acre riparian corridor and wetlands, featuring deep water habitat, marshes, and interpretative signage and boardwalks. SALT H L T A U K O E S JORDAN RIVER C OMMISSION JORDAN RIVER SPOTLIGHTSPOTLIGHT MEADOWBROOK NATURAL AREA The Meadowbrook Natural Area, a protected natural open space area, was originally established to mitigate the impacts to wetlands from the Little Dell Reservoir in East Canyon. This area highlights a cottonwood forest established from flooding in 1984 and picturesque views of the Oquirrh Mountains in the distance. 1100 WEST 3800 SOUTH, SOUTH SALT LAKE, UT 84119 GENERAL HOLM PARK General Holm Park is a 3.75-acre regional, trailhead park to the Jordan River Parkway commerating MG Holm WWII Veterans. The park features a reservable pavilion, playground, picnic tables, and plenty of grassy open space for activities. The Center highlights cultural wealth and creativity, and offers a forum to celebrate the community’s talents in music, dance, performance and visual arts. 1355 WEST 3100 SOUTH, WEST VALLEY CITY, UT 84119 COTTONWOOD POND RESTORATION SITE Once a neglected storm water detention pond, the Cottonwood Pond is undergoing a restoration process, in conjunction with local high school students and residents. Hundreds of cottonwoods and willows have been planted by Salt Lake County’s Million Trees Program, in conjunction with Tree Utah.
