Droitwich Salt has been enjoying a huge boom since its re-launch in 2017 and the town is the best place to get your hands on its old-but-new famous product. Droitwich Salt is sourced from one of the oldest and purest brine springs in the world – naturally existing under the town for millions of years. It was historically, and justly, celebrated for its great purity and today this pure and natural flavour still comes through. The salt is harvested by hand at Churchfields Saltworks – situated at Churchfields Farm – where the gentle process of crystallising the natural brine to pure salt is done using renewable energy. It was an internationally valuable resource in Roman, Anglo Saxon and Norman Times. For this reason, don’t be surprised if you see the odd Roman or two marching through the town during events – they are quite the attraction! One of these events is the Droitwich Food & Drink Festival on Saturday 22 – Sunday 23 June. With strict rules on who can exhibit, the very best from local producers can be found here within the beautiful Lido Park. Featuring cookery demonstrations, entertainment, children’s activity zone and a plethora of food & drink stalls, come and see why this event was recently voted the best in Worcestershire. Oh, and don’t forget to buy your Droitwich Salt and associated products here too. www.valeandspa.co.uk 5 WHAT’S ON 2019 EVESHAM The British Asparagus Festival | 23 April – 21 June The famous Vale of Evesham asparagus is grown in the heart of Worcestershire.
