She has projects left and right. Her married status and motherhood were initially perceived to be roadblocks to her successful career. But these have not hindered her showbiz journey at all. Her newfound status as a family woman has opened more doors for the superstar from the Kapuso Network. Marian Rivera Gracia Dantes, who has turned 33 last August 12, was recently hailed by De La Salle Araneta University as among the year’s Most Outstanding Media Communicators in the Philippines. She is honored to have received the Zeal for La Sallian Excellence in Media Award because she is a La Salle alumna herself. She is a BA Psychology graduate from De La Salle University Dasmariñas in Cavite. She capped her Instagram appreciation post for Gawad Lasallianeta 2017 with a #ProudToBeLaSallian hashtag. INSIDE SHOWBIZ WEEKLY OCTOBER 2017 Another recent citation for Marian came from the 7th EdukCircle Awards held earlier this month. She expressed gratitude for the International Education Circle - International Center for Communication Studies (ICCS) for naming her as one of the country’s top endorsers. She stands out as the only married celebrity and mother among the Most Influential Female Endorsers of the Year list which includes Kathryn Bernardo, Maine Mendoza, Liza Soberano, Pia Wurtzbach, and Nadine Lustre. Indeed, Marian is still a trusted and in-demand ambassadress for various beauty products, cooking ingredients, food, drinks, and clothes, among others. Her endorsement deals continue to flourish. She shares these projects with husband Dingdong Dantes whom she married in 2014. She has an additional endorsement partner in her mini-me, daughter Maria Letizia. INSIDE SHOWBIZ WEEKLY OCTOBER 2017 PHOTO FROM SNOW WHITE/VIDA NUTRISCIENCE INSIDE SHOWBIZ WEEKLY OCTOBER 2017 Marian is still very much visible on television, and not just in her many commercials. She is seen every Saturday afternoon hosting the GMA Public Affairs program Tadhana. The weekly drama anthology which tackles the stories of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) is already on its second season.. She takes on a lighter role the day after as host, performer, and even comedian in the variety program Sunday PinaSaya. Just as of late, she has returned to the GMA Telebabad timeslot. SUPER COMEBACK The Filipino-Spanish actress who has made waves dancing and sashaying as MariMar, swimming as Dyesebel, and soaring as Darna takes on a new character that is just as endearing in the new telefantasya Super Ma’am. This project is her comeback as a PHOTO FROM @MARIANRIVERA INSTAGRAM headliner in the evening slot where she earned the title Kapuso Primetime Queen. Her previous primetime exposures were as Ynang Reyna Minea in Encantadia and briefly in Mulawin vs. Ravena. INSIDE SHOWBIZ WEEKLY OCTOBER 2017 PHOTO FROM @MARIANRIVERA INSTAGRAM In Super Ma’am, Marian plays dual characters, similar to what she did years ago as Narda and Darna. This time, she is history teacher Binibining Minerva Henerala and Super Ma’am, the alter ego with super powers. “Na-miss ko din maging superhero,” Marian shares in a GMANetwork.com interview. “Na-miss ko ‘yung mga fight scenes na ginagawa din namin. Sabi ko nga, parang ang daming flashback sa akin kapag nakikipag-fight scene ako.” INSIDE SHOWBIZ WEEKLY OCTOBER 2017 Super Ma’am has already made waves online after landing in the Social Wit List Top 10 for September 2017. Such list of most buzzed about new programs is released by WorldScreen.com. Super Ma’am is the only Filipino show in the list which is dominated by U.S. shows Will & Grace, The Good Doctor, Hand in Hand: A Benefit for Hurricane Harvey Relief, Star Trek: Discovery, and MTV Unplugged. The other shows on the list are La línea roja from Spain, #Game4Grenfell from the U.K., Bizim Hikaye from Turkey, and Gaga: Five Foot Two from Netflix. Super Ma’am secured the 10th spot after gaining around 33,000 Twitter reactions and Facebook comments during its pilot premiere. Marian’s latest television character adds to a long list of memorable television portrayals that also include title roles Carmela and Amaya, Angeline in Temptation of Wife, Sharina in My Beloved, and Jenny in Endless Love. In Super Ma’am, Marian is inspiring viewers both as a history teacher and superhero. As the superhero, she flaunts her toned belly as if she had not given birth. She executes her action scenes with precision and ease. And her face which everyone adores is still as perfect, even more glowing now. INSIDE SHOWBIZ WEEKLY OCTOBER 2017 PHOTO FROM VIDA NUTRISCIENCE INSIDE SHOWBIZ WEEKLY OCTOBER 2017 PHOTO FROM @MARIANRIVERA INSTAGRAM POWER COUPLE Currently, she is an actress, host, performer, endorser, model, advocate, entrepreneur, artist, wife, and mother. She has dabbled into music and her dance albums gained Gold and Platinum status. She has numerous awards bestowed for her acting performances, beauty, and popularity. She is also a multiple Anak TV Makabata Awardee. A few years ago, she was the Philippine Ambassador for Women and Children with Disabilities. And to this day, she is still campaigning for worthy causes concerning kids, ladies, and mothers. Marian Rivera is a super woman, Her glaring glow can probably be attributed to the fact that she is contented with her blessings. INSIDE SHOWBIZ WEEKLY OCTOBER 2017 Her celebrated career is still going well. She has the love and support from her husband, daughter, parents, relatives, bosses, colleagues, friends, and fans. Despite her busy schedule, Marian is able to fulfill her duties as a wife, mother, and actress. She even runs Flora Vida by Marian, her online flower shop which offers home-assembled preserved blooms. PHOTO FROM @MARIANRIVERA INSTAGRAM Just how Marian is able to manage her busy schedule for her family is a testament to her commitment to her husband and child. Dingdong himself is just as busy with the GMA primetime program Alyas Robin Hood. He has just finished off with the Star Cinema box office hit Seven Sundays and is bound to do a movie with Anne Curtis. He oversees his independent film studio AgostoDos Pictures. He serves as chairman of the eight-year-old YesPinoy Foundation (YPF). Moreover, he is also a longtime reserve force member of the Philippine Marines. INSIDE SHOWBIZ WEEKLY OCTOBER 2017 It is good to see how Dingdong and Marian are still able to do what they love. They do not hamper each other from having different partners. Marian admits that Dingdong is naturally her favorite leading man. “Always happy working with you mahal,” Marian said of their most recent overseas show. Even if they cannot work together all the time, they remain supportive of each other’s projects. They promote each other’s shows and causes. What started as the DongYan love team, regarded as the King and Queen of GMA-7, is now one of the top power couples in the industry. GOOD CAUSES Dingdong and Marian are not just counting their showbiz projects and endorsements. They also value more than ever how they can use their celebrity status for the better. Dingdong’s YPF aims to empower the Filipino volunteer sector in order to make nation-building a way of life. The foundation’s I am Super campaign, which focuses on climate action and disaster preparedness, was widely supported by Marian. “Hindi kailangan ng super powers para makatulong sa iba. Kailangan lamang ng tamang impormasyon, puso at pagpapahalaga sa kapwa,” she wrote on Instagram as she posted photos of YPF Go Bags that are aimed to be sent to kids in disaster-prone areas. In addition, her work featuring perennial blooms from Flora Vida by Marian was included in the I Am Super: An Art Exhibit for Resilience. “I am humbled to be included in the exhibit for a cause,” she adds. “It’s an honor to work alongside notable artists such as Mark Padernal and Carlo Saavedra. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to help the youth in my own small way.” INSIDE SHOWBIZ WEEKLY OCTOBER 2017 PHOTO FROM SNOW WHITE/VIDA NUTRISCIENCE INSIDE SHOWBIZ WEEKLY OCTOBER 2017 Marian also supports the non-governmental organization Smile Train Philippines which offers free surgeries for less fortunate children born with a cleft lip or palate. “Nakakataba ng pusong malamang nakatulong kang mabago ang buhay ng isang tao. I am proud to be a Smile Train #SmileMaker,” she remarks on another Instagram post, encouraging others to take part in her #YANAngSmile awareness campaign.
