Please stop by or call the of- fice to arrange for Masses .! My days as a columnist are fast coming to a close. On May 15 I will retire and Fr. Rojin will become the new Pastor of St. Jerome’s. It has been the honor and privilege of my life to serve the remarkable St. Jerome community. Now I write to let you know that I am a bit tired and running out of ideas and know that the time is right to hand the baton over to a talented young priest who knows you, loves you and will devote his considerable energy and talents to renewing this parish. ! ! As I said last week, while the core of this parish is healthy and strong it is time that the periphery re- ceives the much needed attention it deserves. Fr. Rojin will devote himself to maintaining our strengths while slowly leading us all in a new direction. ! ! Bishop Caggiano will celebrate Fr. Rojin’s installation Mass on Sunday May 19 th at 11:30am. I will con- celebrate the Mass and rejoice with gratitude for your new pastor. Fr Rojin’s parents are coming from India, so it will be a day of great joy. A simple reception will follow in the downstairs hall (where I am told there will be Indian food!). ! ! As for me, at the end of May I’ll head to Southern Maine to assist local parishes for the summer, return- ing in late August to live at St. Jerome. My Mass of thanksgiving for 25 years will be at 11am on Sun- day October 13 th , followed by a simple reception in the downstairs hall where I look forward to seeing you again. ! ! In the interim, start thinking Triduum ( Holy Thursday, Good Friday, Easter Vigil/Easter Sunday.) My hope each year is that the Thursday Mass of the Lord’s Supper will be full, that many will come to adore the Cross on Good Friday and that the Easter vigil and this year’s adult baptism will be well at- tended. ! ! By the way, if you have never come for the bonfire and blessing of the Easter candle on Holy Saturday, consider coming just to that. The first part of the Vigil will only take about 15 minutes. ! ! Lastly, there will be Deanery wide Confessions at St. Matthew on Monday April 15 th from 3pm until 9pm. Our communal celebration is Saturday the 13 th at 12 noon. !
