House Redistricting Town FAQ

1. Will the meeting be livestreamed or recorded and how can I watch?

Yes, redistricting town halls will be livestreamed when possible. The ability to livestream is dependent on the reliability of the internet access and technological capabilities of the host facility on the day the meeting takes place. livestreams are accessible here, no signup required. This is the same link where the public can currently watch live proceedings of House committee meetings and sessions.

When livestreaming is not possible or disrupted, a recording will be made available at the same link under the “recordings” page a few days after the meeting. At this time, we anticipate that livestreaming will be available at the Oklahoma City, Tulsa, Tahlequah, Lawton, Ardmore and Woodward meetings.

2. Will there be an opportunity for the questions and comments by the public?

There will be a time set aside for Q&A and public comment following a brief presentation. A standing microphone will be placed at the center of the for attendees to approach and ask questions. Alternatively, when a standing microphone is not available or practical, a staff member will bring a microphone to the person asking questions.

3. Do I need to register to attend? If so, how do I do that?

No registration is required. Every meetings is open to anyone who would like to attend and intended to be an opportunity for the public and local stakeholders to learn more about redistricting, make suggestions and have their voices heard throughout the process.

4. I cannot attend, how can I still participate, ask questions, provide public input, learn more about the process?

The meetings are not the only chance for public comment. The House has been accepting feedback and comments on communities of interests, local preferences and other thoughts on the redistricting process since September of 2019 when the [email protected] was created and announced. The public is also invited to visit the House Redistricting Website to learn more about the process. Any public testimony from a town hall meeting, email sent to [email protected] or comments submitted through the House Redistricting contact page will be shared with the committee and summarized in a report for the committee to consider.

5. Where can I find a list of meeting dates and locations? In collaboration with the Senate, there are over 18 unique opportunities to attend a meeting. An interactive map showing House and Senate meetings across the state can be found here or a list can be found here.

6. What are the pandemic protocols for the town hall meetings?

As guests of our host facilities, we will be following the COVID-19 protocols set by each location. Masks or face coverings may be mandatory at certain locations and are required at meetings held at the Capitol.
