What we want is Charlie Hulsman's recipe for catching hard straight drives with one hand. Charlie pulled down two such drives in last Sunday's class game, and thus saved his team from a possible defeat. Had he not roped in these fast ones they would have been good for four bases at times when the Freshmen had the sacks fairly well filled.
Last Friday afternoon on their own field the Sub-Freshmen nine proved themselves unable to stop the onslaught of the boys of the class of '23 and went down for a 6-5 count. The contest was a stiff match for nine innings, with the Freshmen finishing at the better end of the score. White, who was on the slab for the yearlings, pitched a con- sistent game, while Longshak upheld his end of the event on the mound for the under-Freshmen.
Jimmie Armstrong is nursing a badly wrenched shoulder as the result of his spectacular tumble at last Sunday's Sophomore-Freshman diamond clash. He was injured in a fall which came when he stumbled over the first bag after he had run out an infield hit. His arm is gradually recovering from the tough bump it received at the hands of its master.
