HEIGHT: 6’0” WEIGHT: 175 Bobby Clampett BIRTHDATE: April 22, 1960 RESIDENCE: Cary, North Carolina Player Biography SPECIAL INTERESTS: Sports, Golf Course Design TURNED PROFESSIONAL: 1980 Bobby Clampett joined CBS Sports in 1991 as a course reporter for their broadcast of the PGA Championship. After retiring from his career as a professional golfer in 1995, Clampett was excited to accept a full-time position with CBS. He now works as a golf analyst at approximately 10 events per year and has become a respected member of the CBS Sports Golf Broadcast Team. Bobby’s success extends beyond broadcasting. He is an accomplished author and his new book, The Impact Zone is a unique instructional guide that focuses on improving a golfer’s understanding and execution of impact. Tom Lehman, 1996 British Open Champion and 2006 U.S. Ryder Cup Team Captain stated “Bobby Clampett is one of the most knowledgeable golfing minds in the game” Bobby Clampett was a regular on the PGA Tour from 1980 to 1995. During that time, he earned more than $1 million in tournament winnings. Clampett’s most successful year came in 1981 when he finished the season ranked 14 th on the Official Money List. Bobby had another great year in 1982, winning the Southern Open and coming close with six other top-ten finishes. In 1984, Clampett became the youngest player to earn more than $500,000. Other highlights of Bobby Clampett’s early golfing career at Brigham Young University include his accomplishments as a three-time All-American (1978-1980) and two-time Collegiate Golfer of the Year. Clampett lives in Cary, North Carolina with his wife Marianna and his three children – Katelyn, Daniel, and Michael. When he is not working, Bobby enjoys traveling with his family and piloting his own plane. .

They talked about what great opportunities The First Tee gives to young men and women. I can’t agree more, as I am one of the fortunate young men getting a chance to be a PGA TOUR Course Reporter at the SAS Champions Tour event in Cary, NC. After breakfast, we then went to the Media Center and I received my media badge and was transformed into a Course Reporter. The credentials of the media badge allowed me to go behind the ropes, in the big semi-trailers and talk directly to the golfers. The first stop along the way was in the Training Facility where I met with Hank Haney. I asked him what his craziest teaching experience was, and as you probably guessed, he replied, “That would be Charles Barkley”. For all the years I have attended professional golf tournaments, I always wondered what was in those big semi-trailers. I used to imagine that they were places for the players to sleep. I was so wrong. The first trailer was club repair. It contained all the equipment, machines and supplies to repair players clubs on demand. From replacing a grip to changing a shaft to replacing a club head, it is all right there on site for the Champions Tour players. Mark Brooks was in the trailer working on his own clubs, and a little later, Ben Crenshaw drove up in his cart and needed a couple clubs re-gripped before tomorrow’s big event.

A Message to the Media n behalf of the players and staff, welcome to the 2004 PGA TOUR season. We appreciate your continued interest in our sport, and we clearly recognize the extent to which our success is tied to the thorough and professional coverage we receive from a Owide variety of global media outlets. As the PGA TOUR begins another great season, we can truly state that the image and competitive spirit of our players has led to the healthiest state in the history of our organization. The Sports Business Journal recently reaffirmed this when it published the “2003 League Report Card,” a survey of corporate sponsors’ opinions of their investment in sports properties. The PGA TOUR ranked first in overall satisfaction among the 16 major sports. This is important as we continue to raise the exposure of our tournaments, provide significant value to our sponsors and showcase the widespread excellence of our athletes. The competition level on the PGA TOUR in 2003 was at an all-time high, with season-ending honors going down to the wire. Tiger Woods recorded a season-high five victories and the lowest stroke average on TOUR and garnered a fifth consecutive Player of the Year honor. Vijay Singh won four times and captured his first money title. Davis Love III won a career-high four times, includ- ing THE PLAYERS Championship, making 2003 the first time in 30 years where three players won four or more times in a season. However, the depth of the TOUR was never more evident. Eleven players age 40 or older combined to capture 15 PGA TOUR titles.
