Registration Package Information for BC Players to Attend Canada Deaf Games 2018 Registration Package Information For BC Players to attend Canada Deaf Games 2018 DATE: Saturday, February 17 to Sunday, February 25, 2018 LOCATION: Winnipeg, Manitoba Canada Deaf Games (CDG) Combo Fee per player includes opening ceremony, closing ceremony, banquet (Feb 24), registration fee, program book, game passes, bronze and gold medal games. This cost $200 Early Bird by September 30 or $235 deadline by October 31, 2017 per player. Objective: These competitions are qualification for the 2019 Winter Deaflympics: Curling, ice hockey and snowboarding. Curling events will count as national tryouts. There will be coaches and recruiters on site for ice hockey and snowboarding. The basketball games will select the best players age 21 years old and under for the U21 World Basketball Championships at Gallaudet University, July 2019 If you are interested to be on BC Team for the sports of volleyball, curling, basketball, bowling, ice hockey and snowboarding. Please inform Leonor Johnson at BC Deaf Sports Federation. You are required to attend BCDSF try-out selection games/practice events to be part of BC Team. Please ask Leonor at BCDSF office for the schedule. BC Package Information: All flights, hotels, CDG combo fees must be done through BCDSF. CDG and Canadian Deaf Sports Association will not accept payment from individual BC players. HOTEL: Rooms will be booked by BCDSF at Canad Inn Polo Park, Winnipeg. Two double sized bed in each room cost $135 per night plus taxes. Approx. $600 each player for eight (8) nights. Possible reduces to four (4) nights for basketball, volleyball, bowling and ice hockey. AIRFARE: BCDSF will book flights for all players through our Sports travel agency. Approx. cost $600 AUDIOGRAM: If you never played on the Canadian Deaf events, you are required to provide hearing test. Please ask Leonor for more information. DEPOSIT FEE: $200.00 is due by September 22, 2017. You will get full refund if you are not selected to be on the BC team. OTHERS: BCDSF will provides BC Team shirts and BCDSF will send chaperones if necessary for youth age 18 and under. I welcome you to the beautiful city of Samsun for the Congress of the 23rd Summer Deaflympics 2017! How exciting is it to begin the countdown to the Opening Ceremony of the first-ever Deaflympics in Turkey! Although the Deaf community`s attention will turn to the athletes and the competition, I am sure that all of you feel the anticipation building for the Games. Everything is ready! Sports infrastructure is ready as well as the spectators, and most importantly - our great athletes are ready! I’ve been to Samsun numerous times and I’ve been very pleased to see how initial challenges have been addressed and that sports venues have been completed following positive cooperation between ICSD, Organizing Committee and NDSFs. The standard of the Deaflympics village is of the highest level with the best training facilities.

    Association des sports des Sourds du Canada www.assc-cdsa.com PRESS RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Fundraising for Team Canada to attend the 2019 Winter Deaflympics Thirty-five Deaf and hard of hearing athletes are headed to Italy Montreal, September 9, 2019 - Thirty-five (35) Deaf and hard of hearing athletes will compete at the 19th Winter Deaflympics in Italy from December 12-21, 2019. In order to fundraise $25,000 to cover Team Canada’s expenses at the Games, the Canadian Deaf Sports Association (CDSA) is appealing to the generosity of the public. Canada has participated at the Winter Deaflympics since 1959, defending its colours in high performance sports in a friendly atmosphere. This year, Team Canada will compete in four of the six sports presented at the Games: curling, ice hockey, alpine skiing and snowboarding. Three members of the Kyte family will accompany Team Canada: Johnny, Sean and Thomas. The first Deaf hockey player to have played in the NHL, Jim Kyte is also the official spokesperson for the CDSA. The 2019 Winter Deaflympics will gather 500 to 600 athletes from 25 countries in the Italian regions of Valtellina and Valchiavenna. The participation costs for these Games are more than $4,750 per athlete, so the CDSA’s fundraising aims to cover a part of these costs related to registration fees, transportation, accommodation, meals and team uniforms. The CDSA Board of Directors nominated Alain Turpin, CDSA Executive Director to second Danny Daniels in his role as a Chef de Mission. Mr. Turpin was Executive Director for the Association sportive des Sourds du Québec from 2006 to 2011, and he was also a Team Manager with CDSA for the Men’s and Women’s Volleyball teams. Three Team Managers have been selected for Ice Hockey, Curling and Sliding Sports (Snowboarding, Alpine Skiing and Cross Country Skiing). Marty Rabu from Manitoba will manage the Men’s Ice Hockey team. Mr. Rabu coached and managed several Deaf Western teams between 1999 and 2014. He was also Assistant Coach and Assistant Team Manager for the Canadian Ice Hockey team during four Winter Deaflympics. The Curling team will be managed by Lois McIntyre from Ontario. Mrs. McIntyre has over 15 years of experience as a curler playing at the Ottawa Deaf Curling Club, and she competed at the Ontario Deaf Curling Championship as well as Canadian Deaf Curling Championship. Mrs. McIntyre coached and managed the Tennis team at the 2017 Summer Deaflympics.
