Design: Qualitative ethnobotanical study followed by a survey of women’s frequency of consumption of wild plants conducted using FFQ at quarterly intervals. Setting: Sidi Bouzid governorate of central Tunisia. Participants: Mixed-gender group of key informants (n 14) and focus group participants (n 43). Survey sample of women aged 20–49 years, representative at governorate level (n 584). Results: Ethnobotanical study: thirty folk species of wild edible plants correspond- ing to thirty-five taxa were identified by key informants, while twenty folk species (twenty-five taxa) were described by focus groups as commonly eaten. -

Systematic revision of the indigenous taxa. Taeckholmia 19(2): 127-146. The idiginous taxa of Malvaceae represented in the flora of Egypt were systematically revised. This revealed the presence of 26 species belonging to 11 genera and four tribes; among these, Malvella sherardiana ia a new record to the flora of this country. For each species, valid name, synonymes (if any), type, distribution (local and global) and selected specimens are given. A key for the genera of the family, and keys for the species belonging to the genera with more than one species are provided Key words: Flora of Egypt, Malvaceae, idigenus taxa; Malvella sherardiana. Introduction Malvaceae is a natural family, easily distinguished by its monadelphous stamens, monothecal anthers, simple entire mostly palmate leaves, stellate hairy indumentum and large echinate pollen grains. The presence of an involucre (epicalyx), is diagnostic where present. Malvaceae is closely related to Tiliaceae, Bombacaceae and Sterculiaceae but differs in the possession of one – celled anthers and monadelphous stamens. It is believed that Malvaceae is regarded as a complex climax derived from the ancestral woody Tiliales and largely reduced to herbs with fibrous stems and is considered as the most advanced family in order Malvales, together with Bombacaceae (Hutchinson, 1967). -

E-mail: [email protected]. Abstract The Libyan flora was last documented in a series of volumes published between 1976 and 1989. Since then there has been a substantial realignment of family and generic boundaries and the discovery of many new species. The lack of an update or revision since 1989 means that the Libyan Flora is now out of date and requires a reassessment using modern approaches. Here we report initial efforts to provide an updated checklist covering 43 families out of the 150 in the published flora of Libya, including 138 genera and 411 species. Updating the circumscription of taxa to follow current classification results in 11 families (Coridaceae, Guttiferae, Leonticaceae, Theligonaceae, Tiliaceae, Sterculiaceae, Bombacaeae, Sparganiaceae, Globulariaceae, Asclepiadaceae and Illecebraceae) being included in other generally broader and less morphologically well-defined families (APG-IV, 2016). As a consequence, six new families: Hypericaceae, Adoxaceae, Lophiocarpaceae, Limeaceae, Gisekiaceae and Cleomaceae are now included in the Libyan Flora. -

Agric., Omar Al-Mukhtar Univ. [email protected] Abstract: Study conducted in two areas of Al Mansora and Jarjr-oma regions in Al- Jabal Al- Akhdar on the coast. The Rocky habitat Al Mansora 6.5 km of the Mediterranean Sea with altitude at 309.4 m, distance Jarjr-oma 300 m of the sea with altitude 1 m and distance. Vegetation study was undertaken during the autumn 2010 and winter, spring and summer 2011. The applied classification technique was the TWINSPAN, Divided ecologically into six main habitats to the vegetation in Rocky habitat of Al Mansora and five habitats in Jarjr oma into groups depending on the average number of species in habitats and community: In Rocky habitat Al Mansora community vegetation type Cistus parviflorus, Erica multiflora, Teucrium apollinis, Thymus capitatus, Micromeria Juliana, Colchium palaestinum and Arisarum vulgare. In Jarjr oma existed five habitat Salt march habitat Community dominant species by Suaeda vera, Saline habitat species Onopordum cyrenaicum, Rocky coastal habitat species Rumex bucephalophorus, Sandy beach habitat species Tamarix tetragyna and Sand formation habitat dominant by Retama raetem. The number of species in the Rocky habitat Al Mansora 175 species while in Jarjr oma reached 19 species of Salt march habitat and Saline habitat 111 species and 153 of the Rocky coastal habitat and reached to 33 species in Sandy beach and 8 species of Sand formations habitat. -

Abdulzahra Department of Ecology, College of Science, University of Basra *Department of Biology, College of Science, University of Basra Abstract A total of 127 species belong to 101 genera and 37 families of vascular plants were recognized . Fabaceae (19 spp), Astraceae (18 spp), Poaceae (18 spp), Chenopodaceae (8 pp) and Brassicaceae (7 spp) were the largest families.The annuals ( therophytes ) and the perennial herbs were the most frequent indicating the spring charachteristic physiognomy of the studied area.The plant biodiversity of Chilat in spring based on Shannon Weiner index was 2.07 and Simpson index was 0.194 , but the highest species richness value based on the same indices respectively were 2.15 and 0.16 in station 1. In spring the annual Plantago boisseri has the hightest frequency with a relative abundance 20% and IVI 80.31,while the most dominant perennial species were Pennisetum divisum , Hamada salicornica ,Cornulaca monocantha and Artemsia herba-alba . Based on Sorenson᾽s Coefficient , the similarity between the two stations studied was 0.604 and the Jaccard Coefficient was 0.433. Ziziphus nummularia is very common Big shrub species forming a characteristic community recognized here for the first time. Keywords : Biodiversity , Vegetation , Chilat , Tib , Amara , Iraq . Floristic document the flora of wild plants of the Wadi El- Enaghar region eastern part Composition and Plant Diversity of Western Part of of Libya. The study was carried out in the period from October 2018 to June Wadi El- Enaghar, Libya. Species, 2021, 22(70), 204-217 2020, with two trips per month at least. The plant specimens were collected in flowering or in fruiting condition. Data inventory has been documented in the Author Affiliation: form of family, Botanical name, vernacular name, life form, and habit. The Malva L. genus, popularly known as mallow, grows spontaneously in almost all of Europe and the Mediterranean region. The Malva genus has 25-40 species and it can be considered as an annual and/or biannual herb. This genus contains species that reveal therapeutic properties and are mostly important in medicine and the functional food industry. Therefore, due to the importance of these plant species, we performed a combination of morphological and molecular data for this species. For this study, we used 97 randomly collected plants from seven species in 7 provinces. According to the SCoT markers analysis, Malva sylvestris and Malva aegyptia had the lowest similarity and the species of Malva neglecta and Malva vericillata had the highest similarity. The aims of present study are: 1) can SCoT markers identify Malva species, 2) what is the genetic structure of these taxa in Iran, and 3) to investigate the species inter-relationship? The present study revealed that combination of morphological and SCoT data can identify the species.
