Viel zu diesem Ruf beige- tragen haben seine intensiven, gefühlvollen Balladen, etwa He Stopped Loving Here Today, The Grand Tour, Walk Through This World With Me, She Thinks I Still Care und Tender Years. November 2007 Newsletter ------------------------------------ Yesterday & Today Records 255A Church St Parramatta NSW 2150 Phone/fax: (02) 96333585 Email: [email protected] Web: www.yesterdayandtoday.com.au --------------------------------- Post 1 cd $2/2cd $3/ 3-4 cds $6.00 1 dvd $4.50 2-3 dvds $6.00 ------------------------------------------- The year ends and there are so many great releases herein that I’d almost declare it the best newsletter I’ve had. It may very well be the last as well, but as I used to say in my previous career “nothing is certain on the waterfront” and nothing is certain here as well. It has been just shy of 19 years and it doesn’t get easier. It is like the old adage “between a rock and a hard place” in that there have never been a better lot of artists than there are now: Dale Watson, Justin Trevino, Amber Digby, Ron Williams etc yet the major label music scene is, for a lack of a better word stuffed. Yet some people are impossible to convince. Some people refuse to take anything but the CMT route. It wouldn’t matter if I said Ron Williams’ is the best cd I have had this year and is right up there with the best ever of Mark Chesnutt, Keith Whitley and co. If you watch CMT and enjoy it then I will sell you a share in the Sydney Harbour Bridge. If you watch it and question its merit we have the answers for you. Please read on. ----------------------------------- Ron Williams – “Texas Style” $32 If anything beats this as album of the year I will be very surprised.

  • Its the Gospel According to Luke
THE BIBLE NOTEBOOK Verse By Verse Bible Studies © 2005 Johnny L. Sanders IT’S THE GOSPEL According to Luke by Johnny L. Sanders, D. Min. Copyright© 2005 Johnny L. Sanders All Rights Reserved DEDICATION To John and Mark I love you, my sons (I never get tired of saying it) INTRODUCTION TO THE THIRD GOSPEL 2 GOSPEL. The word “Gospel” is commonly defined today as “good news” - and that it is! However, according to some accounts, in pre-New Testament times it was used to denote the reward given to the bearer of good news. In the New Testament it denotes the announcement of, and the recording of good news. There is a difference between an event and the account of the event. To Luke, the Gospel is, first and foremost, what God did through Jesus Christ, and then the continuation of what He did through His church (see the Book of Acts). The Gospel According to Luke and the Book of Acts form a unit and need to be studied together for maximum benefit. It should be remembered that this is not the Gospel of Luke - it is the Gospel of Jesus Christ, according to Luke. AUTHORSHIP. All evidence points to the fact that Luke, the Gentile physician and trusted friend and co-worker of Paul, was the author of both the Gospel According to Luke and the Book of Acts. Scholarship and tradition both support this claim. Luke wrote about one-fourth of all the Scripture in the New Testament, and the book that bears his name has been ranked by many among the most beautiful books ever written.

  • COOK FAMILY LETTERS 1841 to 1896
COOK FAMILY LETTERS 1841 to 1913 collected by FAYE E. HANSEN edited by KENNETH R. COIN 1981 EXPLANATION and CREDIT The majority of the following letters were written by three generations of the Cook family of Riley Township, Clinton County, Michigan. After the death of Maud Randall Cutler in 1956, the letters came into the possession of Faye E. Hansen who added to the collection letters in the possession of Mrs. Cutler's son, Neil, and some in the possession of her nephew, Gerald Pike. In the editing of these letters, strict attention has been given to retaining the original spelling of words. The only changes in this regard have been the correcting of misspelled family names and place names. Cook Family Joseph Cook (1790-1863) and Charlotte (Herrick) Cook (1795-1860) were the parents of the following known children: George H., Joseph W., Addison U., Charlotte, Abigail, Amori Benson, Sally Ann, and William H. • 1 Clothesline Revival Interviews: Conversations with Conrad
Clothesline Revival Interviews: Conversations with Conrad Praetzel, Robert Powell, Wendy Allen, Tom Armstrong, and Sukhawat Ali Khan by Frank Goodman / Puremusic.com (1/2003) I got an email one day that said something about a new release. More often than not they go by uninvestigated, there are just too many of them and too little time to get the work done. But the name was so quirky that I laughed out loud and clicked the link. The picture on the first page and the stirring quote from Sufi master Hazrat Inayat Khan piqued my interest, and the next click opened up onto a CD called Of My Native Land. The cover was a totem in the woods of an apparently ancient figure, and the CD title seemed to be taken from words carved on or near it. I knew I’d stumbled onto something cool. But I wasn’t prepared for how cool it really was. The cover art turned out to be the timeless and time ravaged work of outsider E.T. Wickham, built on land not too far from Nashville where I live. The songs inside were very provocative and interesting renditions of traditional music, combined with beats, loops, samples, and god knows what, things I didn’t understand at all, but I loved the way it sounded. And there were three or four amazing vocalists on it. Close to three months later, I’m still floored by the record. Of My Native Land was brought about essentially by partners Conrad Praetzel and Robert Powell of Northern CA.

G This is the first anthology of Jones' rocking side! G Includes extremely rare recordings, unreissued on CD or LP! G Also includes the #1 country hits Why Baby Why and White Lightnin’! INFORMATION At 81, George Jones has enjoyed the status of world's greatest living country singer for more than half-century. Much of that re- putation is rooted in raw, emotional ballads, such as He Stopped Loving Here Today, The Grand Tour, Walk Through This World With Me, She Thinks I Still Care, and Tender Years. But that's only one part of the story. Jones was no less masterful on hotter material starting with his first hit, Why Baby Why. This collection includes that first hit as well as rarities, obscurities, and shoulda-been-hits like No Money In This Deal, Too Much Water, Tall Tall Trees (written by Roger Miller and later a #1 hit for Alan Jackson), Nothing Can Stop Me and That's The Way I Feel, Revenooer Man (written by Donny Young, aka Johnny Paycheck), Who Shot Sam, and Sparkling Brown Eyes.
