Mayor’s Veterans Recognition Program At the first City Council Meeting in November, Mayor Tammy Dana-Bashian kicked off her new Veterans Recognition Program by honoring local veteran, Donald Pierson, Sr. Mr. Pierson, who achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant, served as a Marine in Vietnam. He also served as a member of the Army Reserves from 1972-1998, when he retired after being injured in a lightning strike at Camp Maxey.

Mr. Pierson was picked up from his home and escorted to Rowlett City Hall by the Third Watch Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club, along with approximately 40-50 more motorcycles and riders!

This recognition program is a collaboration with the Third Watch Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club (LE MC), a brotherhood of police, fire fighters and military, both current and honorably retired, that share the common goal of assisting and recognizing veterans. Also at this meeting, the Third Watch LE MC made Mayor Dana-Bashian an honorary member by presenting her with a leather vest emblazoned with the Club’s logo. This honored her commitment to raising awareness of veterans’ issues and formally recognizing their contributions to our nation’s freedom.

Going forward, veterans of all ages and branches of service will be formally recognized at City Council Meetings on a regular basis.
