OTHER INFORMATION – HISTORY 3,000 years ago, Chongqing was originally called Jiangzhou, Yuzhou and then Gongzhou, before getting its present name nearly 800 years ago. From the Qin Dynasty (221BC~206BC) onwards, many dynasties have set up various administrative institutions there, which endowed the city with brilliant culture. Perched beside the "Golden River" of the Yangtze River, Chongqing is the symbol of Changjiang civilization and also the cradle of Bayu culture.

The best time to visit Chongqing is spring, autumn and winter, because Chongqing has a mild winter and hot summer. There is an International Travel Festival held in Chongqing every year from May to June. One can enjoy and explore the wonderful scenery of the magnificent Three Gorges by travelling along the Changjiang River. The Chongqing Museum located in Loquat Hill is another must-see in Chongqing.
