Area Summary Mellis is a village and civil parish in Mid Suffolk that sits around 3 miles west of Eye and 5 miles south of Diss. The parish is bisected by the Norwich to London train line and bordered by the A143 and A140. The village is dominated by Mellis Common which is said to be the largest unfenced piece of common land in the country. The area is managed by Suffolk Wildlife Trust and is home to a range of flora and fauna. Mellis Memorial Hall sits in the centre of the village and acts as the village hall, playing host to a number of groups and events. Residents also have access to a football pitch that sits on the common. On the eastern edge of the parish you will find Mellis Primary School which was rated as ‘outstanding’ in its latest Ofsted report.
