Due to the national COVID-19 Pandemic, the committee staff began working remotely from their homes on Monday, March 16, 2020, until further notice. June 1, 2020 – Chairman Pallone and Ranking Member Walden, along with Subcommittee on Energy Chairman Bobby Rush, Subcommittee Ranking Member Fred Upton, and Honorable Debbie Dingell, sent a joint letter to Liesl Clark, Director of the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes and Energy seeking answers on the Edenville Dam Breach in Midland, Michigan. June 2, 2020 – Chairman Pallone and Subcommittee on Communications and Technology Chairman Mike Doyle, Hon. Anna Eshoo, Hon, Bobby Rush, Hon. Eliot Engel, Hon. Diana DeGette, Hon. Jan Schakowsky, Hon. Kathy Castor, Hon. G.K. Butterfield, Hon. Doris Matsui, Hon. Jerry McNerney, Hon, Peter Welch, Hon. Ben Ray Lujan, Hon. Paul Tonko, Hon. Yvette Clarke, Hon. David Loebsack, Hon. Darren Soto sent a joint letter to Honorable Ajit V. Pai, Chairman of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) urging the FCC to allow local governments adequate time to respond to Wireless Equipment Rule changes amid COVID- 19 Response. June 3, 2020 – Chairman Pallone and Ranking Member Walden, along with Senator Charles Grassley, Chairman of the Senate Finance Committee and Ranking Member Ron Wyden, sent a joint letter to Alex M. Azar II, Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to urge HHS to disperse COVID-19 Relief funds to Medicaid Providers. June 8, 2020 – Chairman Pallone along with Honorable Richard Neal, Chairman of Committee on Ways and Means sent a joint letter to Honorable Seema Verma, Administrator, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, (CMS) Department of Health and Human Services calling on CMS to stop Nursing Facilities from seizing Resident’s Economic Impact Payments. June 10, 2020 – Chairman Pallone, Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure, Chairman Peter DeFazio, and Subcommittee Chair Betty McCollum of the Subcommittee on Interior, Environment and Related Agencies, Committee on Appropriations sent a joint letter to Honorable Andrew Wheeler, Administrator of U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) demanding additional answers on EPA’s Non-enforcement policy during Coronavirus Pandemic. June 12, 2020 – Chairman Pallone and Honorable Mike Doyle, Chairman of the Subcommittee on Communications and Technology sent a letter to Honorable Ajit V. Pai, Chairman of Federal Communications Commission (FCC) requesting public transparency for FCC’s COVID-19 Telehealth p Program.
