Opening day of Dubai Summer Surprises kicks off 10 weeks of mega sales, dining events, entertainment and much more 30 Jun 2021, Dubai, UAE The opening day celebrations for the latest edition of Dubai Summer Surprises (DSS) will officially launch 10 weeks filled with the very best sales, promotions, family fun, dining offers and entertainment across the city. Taking place from 1 July to 4 September, the 24th DSS will celebrate everything that makes Dubai the number one summer vacation choice – a family-friendly destination and retail hotspot for visitors and residents alike. Two of Dubai’s most famous and best-loved landmarks will announce the start of DSS to the world on 1 July, with spectacular projection shows lighting up the night sky. Performed to the song Dubai Kawkab Akhar, the opening shows will be staged at the IMAGINE show at Dubai Festival City Mall and Burj Khalifa, Downtown Dubai. UAE-based artists Kaveh Ahangaran and Maajed Ahmed each tapped into their extensive creative talents for the projection shows, with audiences set to be wowed by a stunning combination of graphics, colour and special effects beamed onto the Burj Khalifa and across the InterContinental Hotel at Dubai Festival City. Both events will be open to members of the public who have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19, with staff checking their status. For Dubai Festival City Mall, guests can book at one of the Festival Bay restaurants or visit the bay directly, making sure they provide vaccination verification. -

For Festivals/Events/Organizations Who Generated Publicity Through a Media Stunt to Promote Their Event/Cause Etc.)
Most Creative / Effective News Stunt (For Festivals/Events/Organizations who generated publicity through a media stunt to promote their event/cause etc.) 1. Overview Information: Please provide a detailed overview explaining the following, using no more than one (1) page to explain each section: a. Introduction & background of campaign / event “Eid in Dubai” was launched in 2008 by the Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (DFRE), an agency of the Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing in Dubai (DTCM). It came third in line in the portfolio of mega-events organized by DFRE, after the world renowned Dubai Shopping Festival (DSF) in 1996, and Dubai Summer Surprises (DSS) in 1998. While DSF aims at promoting Dubai as a shopping destination, and DSS promotes the emirate as a summer holiday destination, ‘Eid in Dubai’ was launched as a social/cultural celebration inspired by the values of the Islamic “Eid” which is celebrated by millions of Muslims around the world twice a year during Eid Al Fitr following Ramadan, the month of fasting, and Eid Al Adha, following the annual Hajj, or Pilgrimage. The “Eid in Dubai” campaign supported the concept of Dubai as a year-round destination by promoting Dubai as a destination of choice for tourists during the Eid holidays. The festival was built around the values traditionally associated with Eid, which is all about giving, sharing and togetherness along with the region’s deep-rooted hospitality and cultural traditions, including gift-giving among family and friends. DFRE embraces these values in all the events and festivities that are included in its “Eid in Dubai” activities. -
Meet the Dubai Mall Hotel
Meet the Dubai mall hotel: A marriage made in retail heaven Dubai is taking the shop-stay concept to new heights -- literally By Tamara Thiessen, for CNN 2 December, 2013 Like Share 58 people like this. Sign Up to see w hat your friends like. 7 All shopped out at the BurJuman Arjaan. “I never think that people die. They just go to department stores,” quipped Andy Warhol. Had he stayed around a little longer, he might have added, “… in Dubai.” The emirate is not only one of the world’s great shopping locations, it’s also at the pointy end of a powerful consumer trend: the rise of the “shopping hotel.” The growth of combined shopping malls and deluxe hotels either inside or adjoining them will be one of the Middle East’s top consumer developments in 2014 and beyond, predicts the market intelligence firm Euromonitor. Many cashed-up travelers come to Dubai primarily to shop. Stay at the mall and they save time and taxi rides. And they don't have to lug all those glossy shopping bags back to their hotel. The arrangement is just as sweet for hoteliers and retailers. Both seek the same high-end traveling clientele -- why not share them? Mall-hotel combos already exist in Dubai from the utilitarian to the seriously luxurious. However, even more lavish couplings are on the drawing board -- including the world’s tallest hotel-shopping extravaganza. The Address, Dubai Mall The Address jealously guards its position adjoining Dubai Mall, the world’s largest, where it opened in 2009. -

Vorwort Fritz Gehbauer
