Previous meetings • The clubs are meeting for the first time in UEFA competition. • Celtic's record in four games against Norwegian teams is W3 D0 L1 (W2 D0 L0 at home – W1 D0 L1 in Norway). That defeat came in the most recent of those games – a 2-0 UEFA Champions League group stage loss at Rosenborg on 23 October 2001. • Molde came up against another Glaswegian outfit, Rangers FC, in the 2006/07 UEFA Cup first round, drawing 0-0 at home and losing 2-0 in their only previous fixture in Scotland. Current Molde captain Daniel Hestad skippered the team during both of those matches. Form guide • Molde are unbeaten in four European home games this season (W2 D2) and unexpectedly took four points from their first two Group A assignments – against Fenerbahçe SK and AFC Ajax. • Celtic have drawn both of their Group A games 2-2 – they have conceded twice in each of their last four European matches: 2-2, 2-2, 0-2, 3-2. • Molde are making their second appearance in this group stage, having missed out on the knockout phase in their maiden campaign in 2012/13. • Celtic progressed to the round of 32 last term. It was their first successful UEFA Cup or UEFA Europa League group stage campaign after missing the cut in 2009/10 and 2011/12. Trivia and links • The journey from Glasgow to Molde is around 1,000km. • Celtic boast Norwegian talent in the form of midfielder Stefan Johansen (FK Bodø/Glimt 2007–10, Strømsgodset IF 2011–13). Molde's Ola Kamara was one of his Strømsgodset team-mates, the pair winning the 2013 Norwegian title at the club under Deila. • Celtic's Sweden right-back Mikael Lustig also played in Norway with Rosenborg (2008–11), where Molde's Mushaga Bakenga was one of his team-mates. • Molde's midfield fulcrum Hestad is the oldest player registered in the group stage. Hestad is a Molde legend. He broke his father Stein Olav Hestad's Molde club appearance record while three of his uncles and his brother have played for the club at various times. • Celtic's Saidy Janko turns 20 on the day of the Molde game. • Molde and Celtic are among ten domestic champions in this season's group stage, along with KF Skenderbëu (Albania), Qarabağ FK (Azerbaijan), APOEL FC (Cyprus), FC Viktoria Plzeň (Czech Republic), FC Midtjylland (Denmark), KKS Lech Poznań (Poland), FK Partizan (Serbia) and FC Basel 1893 (Switzerland). The coaches • A defender in his native Norway, Deila was hired by Celtic in 2014 after a six-year spell in charge of Strømsgodset, who he led to a Norwegian Cup in 2010 and a league title in 2013. He won another title in his first season at Parkhead. • Ole Gunnar Solskjær was reappointed as Molde coach on the eve of matchday three, taking over from caretaker boss Erling Moe. • The former Manchester United forward scored 31 goals in 38 games for Molde before moving to Old Trafford, and coached the club from 2011-14, winning two league titles and a national cup before heading on to Cardiff City. • In his only previous meeting with Celtic, Solskjær came off the bench to score the winner in a 3-2 UEFA Champions League group stage success in September 2006. • Deila's Strømsgodset succeeded Solskjær's Molde as Norwegian champions in 2013; Molde finished sixth that season. 3 Molde FK - Celtic FC Thursday 22 October 2015 - 21.05CET (21.05 local time) Match press kit Molde Stadion, Molde Team facts Molde FK Formed: 1911 Nickname: MFK UEFA club competition honours (runners-up in brackets) • none Domestic honours (most recent triumph in brackets) • Domestic title: 3 (2014) • Norwegian Cup: 4 (2014) Ten-year European record (UEFA Europa League/UEFA Cup unless indicated otherwise) 2014/15: third qualifying round 2013/14: play-offs (having transferred from UEFA Champions League third qualifying round) 2012/13: group stage (having transferred from UEFA Champions League third qualifying round) 2011/12: did not take part in UEFA club competition 2010/11: third qualifying round 2009/10: did not take part in UEFA club competition 2008/09: did not take part in UEFA club competition 2007/08: did not take part in UEFA club competition 2006/07: first round 2005/06: did not take part in UEFA club competition Records UEFA club competition • Biggest home win 4-1: Molde v ND Gorica 17/07/14, UEFA Europa League second qualifying round first leg 3-0: Molde v FK Ventspils 18/07/12, UEFA Champions League second qualifying round first leg • Biggest away win 0-4: KÍ Klaksvík v Molde 28/08/03, UEFA Cup qualifying round second leg • Heaviest home defeat 0-2: Molde v FC Rubin Kazan 22/08/13, UEFA Europa League play-off first leg 0-2: Molde v SL Benfica 27/11/03, UEFA Cup second round second leg • Heaviest away defeat 6-0: Östers IF v Molde 01/10/75, UEFA Cup first round second leg UEFA Europa League/UEFA Cup • Biggest home win 4-1: Molde v ND Gorica (see above) • Biggest away win 0-4: KÍ Klaksvík v Molde (see above) • Heaviest home defeat 0-2: Molde v FC Rubin Kazan (see above) 0-2: Molde v SL Benfica (see above) • Heaviest away defeat 6-0: Östers IF v Molde (see above) Celtic FC Formed: 1888 Nickname: The Hoops, The Bhoys UEFA club competition honours (runners-up in brackets) • European Champion Clubs' Cup (1): 1967, (1970) 4 Molde FK - Celtic FC Thursday 22 October 2015 - 21.05CET (21.05 local time) Match press kit Molde Stadion, Molde • UEFA Cup: (2003) • European/South American Cup: (1967) Domestic honours (most recent triumph in brackets) League title: 46 (2015) Scottish Cup: 36 (2013) Ten-year European record (UEFA Europa League/UEFA Cup unless indicated otherwise) 2014/15: round of 32 (having transferred from UEFA Champions League play-offs) 2013/14: UEFA Champions League group stage 2012/13: UEFA Champions League round of 16 2011/12: group stage 2010/11: play-offs (having transferred from the UEFA Champions League third qualifying round) 2009/10: group stage (having transferred from the UEFA Champions League play-offs) 2008/09: UEFA Champions League group stage 2007/08: UEFA Champions League round of 16 2006/07: UEFA Champions League round of 16 2005/06: UEFA Champions League second qualifying round Records UEFA club competition • Biggest home win 9-0: Celtic v KPV Kokkola 16/09/70, European Champion Clubs' Cup first round first leg • Biggest away win 0-7: Waterford United FC v Celtic 21/10/70, European Champion Clubs' Cup second round first leg • Heaviest home defeat 0-3: Celtic v AC Milan 26/11/13, UEFA Champions League group stage 0-3: Celtic v Juventus 12/02/13, UEFA Champions League round of 16 first leg 0-3: Celtic v Paris Saint-Germain 02/11/95, UEFA Cup Winners' Cup second round second leg • Heaviest away defeat 6-1: FC Barcelona v Celtic 11/12/13, UEFA Champions League group stage UEFA Europa League/UEFA Cup • Biggest home win 8-1: Celtic v FK Sūduva 19/09/02, first round first leg 7-0: Celtic v AS Jeunesse Esch 24/08/00, qualifying round second leg • Biggest away win 0-6: Cwmbran Town FC v Celtic 12/08/99, qualifying round first leg • Heaviest home defeat 1-3: Celtic v FC Salzburg 27/11/14, group stage 0-2: Celtic v Hamburger SV 10/09/96, first round first leg • Heaviest away defeat 5-1: Neuchâtel Xamax FC v Celtic 22/10/91, second round first leg 4-0: FC Utrecht v Celtic 26/08/10, play-off second leg 5 Molde FK - Celtic FC Thursday 22 October 2015 - 21.05CET (21.05 local time) Match press kit Molde Stadion, Molde Squad list Molde FK Current season All-time UCL QUAL UEL League UEL UEFA No.
