He then attended Cranbrook Academy of Art and worked with Saarinen from 1935-36. He is credited with designing Philadelphia’s master plan during his nearly 30 year long career with the Philadelphia City Planning Commission which lasted from the 1940s through 1970. Bacon also taught at University of Pennsylvania for many years beginning in 1950. He has been associated with Modev International and has been in private practice from 1970 to present. On a side note, he is also the father of actor Kevin Bacon.
