    Emissions Recall Code: 20BB Subject Evaporative Emission Control System (EVAP) Purge Valve Release Date October 23, 2018 Affected Vehicles U.S.A. & CANADA: Certain 2018 MY Volkswagen Atlas Check Campaigns/Actions screen in Elsa on the day of repair to verify that a VIN qualifies for repair under this action. Elsa is the only valid campaign inquiry & verification source. Campaign status must show “open.” If Elsa shows other open action(s), inform your customer so that the work can also be completed at the same time the vehicle is in the workshop for this campaign. Problem Description Due to a parts catalog error, the Evaporative Emission Control System (EVAP) purge valve was replaced during service as a single part instead of being replaced as a valve and hose assembly. This can result in improper valve sealing at the hose, and can lead to evaporative leaks that may cause the malfunction indicator light (MIL) to illuminate. If the MIL is on, the vehicle will not pass an emissions inspection. Under certain conditions this issue may have impact on evaporative emissions but does not impact tailpipe emissions beyond the prescribed emissions standards. Corrective Action Install a new EVAP purge valve & hose assembly. Parts Information Due to the small number of affected vehicles, parts will not be allocated prior to launch. If you need parts to support this recall repair, please contact the Parts Specialists via phone (800- 767-6552), email ([email protected]) or chat/text with the VIN to order. Problem Description The brake caliper carrier (bracket) bolts may not be torqued to the correct specification. Because of this, the brake caliper carrier (bracket) may loosen, causing the brake caliper to move on its mount. If this happens, it may lead to increased vehicle stopping distance, may damage a wheel or even cause the vehicle to lose control, increasing the risk of a crash. Corrective Action Inspect affected brake caliper carrier (bracket) bolts. If a loose bolt is found, it will be replaced and torqued to the correct specification. Additionally, the brake caliper fasteners, bleeder valve and brake hose bolt will be checked and torqued to the correct specification, if necessary. For Passat only dealers will inspect if the parking brake cable is connected properly. Precautions A rattling noise while driving may occur when the affected brake caliper bolts become loose. If this happens, owners are advised to contact an authorized Volkswagen dealer without delay and arrange to have the vehicle inspected.
