100 Km Races in Europe with the Calibrated Bicycle Method All-Time list 100km by Andy Milroy and Franco Anichini updated 31dec2012 / aggiornata al 31-12-2012 Course classification (last column of table) A = Correct course, measured by calibrated bicycle. Percorso omologato, misurato con bici calibrate. B = Not measured by the clain-jones calibrated bicycle method, alternative less accurate method used. Probably short course. C = Measurement method uncertain - course very likely to be short. D = Downhill course superior 1 mt/km. Percorsi con pendenza favorevole superiore a 1mt/km downhill. The best performance of an athlete is in bold, other performances in normal typeface. The method of calibrated bicycle was introduced to road racing in the early 1960's. This was done by John Jewell. Jewell was a leading member of the Road Runners Club UK. He and the Road Runners Club promoted this method of measurement. Ted Corbitt in the United States introduced this method to the United States. This was in 1960. In 1980 the IAAF recognized the calibrated bicycle method as the best method for measuring road racing. At the same time AIMS/IAAF seminars on the measurement of road courses were held. In 1988 JF Delasalle and Harry Arndt measured numerous 100 km races in Europe with the calibrated bicycle method. Initially, the Lejeane method was used in France, but this method was soon superseded by Clain-Jones, as being more accurate." ll metodo della bicicletta calibrata è stato introdotto per le corse su strada nei primi anni 1960. In seguito misurò molte 100 km in Europa: NED, GER, AUT.

Under 2014 arrangerades 52 ultramaratonlopp, fler än någonsin.
