    Author's Note New Hampshire College will always be a place that is special to me. It is my hope that I am able to convey to the reader some of its singular qualities. In talking to different people, it was soon apparent that each person has his or her version of the past. So although I have included facts and figures, the major emphasis in this history is on people's reflections of what they saw and felt. It is in this manner that New Hampshire College can be best depicted, because New Hampshire College is the story of people and how their dreams were realized. Dr. Everitt Sackett (d.o.b. and d.o.d.), was a member of New Hampshire College's Board of Trustees at his death. He was the Executive Secretary of the Coordinating Board of Higher Education and was also the Dean of the School of Liberal writingsArts anda t the University of New Hampshire. I am indebted to him for his extremely extensive research into the papers and archives of New Hampshire College. Without his valuable work, I could not have undertaken this book. My Mother's recall and recollections are an essential part of this account. She was remarkable in the how much she remembered and in the detail in which she remembered it. Whenever I had a question, I turned to her. Mostly, she remembered. On the occasions that she did not, she graciously did the research. I also thank my brother for his time and extremely valuable contributions. He was able to synthesize and make connections to seemly disparate events were extremely important in helping to unify this book.

Date: April 17, Consent Calendar: REGULAR Recommendation: OUGHT TO PASS STATEMENT OF INTENT This bill was the subject of a long and at times moving public hearing that included testimony from dozens of citizens who were overwhelmingly in support of repealing the death penalty. Among the witnesses supporting the bill were leaders of the faith community, former prosecutors, police and corrections officers and people who had lost members of their immediate families to murder. This bill is supported by an incredibly diverse group of lawmakers. The majority of the committee concludes that as a matter of public policy the death does not work and is a distraction from addressing important criminal justice issues and should be repealed. The death penalty does not protect public safety, it does not shield our police officers, it does not meet the needs of many families of murder victims, it is not consistent with the values we hear from 'our religious leaders, mistakes are made, and it costs the state more money than the alternative: a process that states simply that those who commit first degree murder will spend the rest of their lives in prison with no chance for parole.

LYNN ARDITI LYNN ARDITI is a reporter for The Providence Journal who has written about the economy, the housing crisis, prostitution, and, most recently, child welfare. During her years on the business staff, she wrote extensively about homeowners who were duped into signing high-rate mortgages and the middlemen who made their living evicting tenants and clearing out the properties after the banks foreclosed. More recently, she has focused on the abuses and failures of the state’s child welfare system. Her story about magistrates who locked up juveniles for truancy offense (“Truants Behind Bars”) won first place for investigate reporting from the New England Associated Press News Executives Association, 2011. Before coming to the Journal in 1989, she worked as a staff writer at the Center for Investigative Reporting in Washington, D.C., where she developed a story for “60 Minutes” about the abuses of strip mining companies, and as a reporter at the Holyoke Transcript- Telegram in Massachusetts. She is a graduate of Oberlin College in Ohio and lives in Rhode Island with her husband and their two teenage sons. SHAWN BEALS ShawN BEALS is 27 and a lifelong Connecticut resident.     EXHIBIT 6 Program Issues List_2nd Quarter - 2016 YCN News WYCI Good evening, it’s Friday, April 1st. *** We begin tonight with bizarre news out of CLAREMONT as an unstable man was arrested yesterday after erratically driving himself to the hospital, and nearly striking a pedestrian in a parking lot. Hours later, the man’s School Street home was raided by authorities on suspicions of a methamphetamine operation. According to police, 54-year-old Bradley Ames faces charges of driving under the influence and conspiracy to manufacture methamphetamine as a result of the events that began around 11 a.m. and didn’t end until dusk. Police were alerted of a medical emergency call from School Street that was dropped shortly after 11, before hearing reports of an erratic driver near Valley Regional Hospital. Ames is said to have nearly struck a pedestrian in the parking lot, before changing his mind after briefly entering the building - he was arrested outside. At around 4:30 that afternoon, both CLAREMONT and state police, as well as members of the New Hampshire Attorney General’s Drug Task Force raided the 27 School Street home and were observed testing chemicals in the roadway. Ames was arraigned today in CLAREMONT District Court. *** Turning to Upper Valley news now, a 32-year-old LEBANON woman was arrested Wednesday on charges of prostitution as the result of a sting operation conducted by local police. According to LEBANON police, detectives became aware of an online advertisment on the website backpage.com by a woman offering to perform sexual activities for a fee.
