JACKSONVILLE JUMBO SHRIMP GAME NOTES Biloxi Shuckers (38-26) at Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp (26-36) Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp – Double-A Affiliate of the Miami Marlins ProuD Member of the Southern League of Professional Baseball Southern League Champions 1996, 2001, 2005, 2009, 2010, 2014 TuesDay June 12, 2018 – 12:05 p.m. Bragan FielD at the Baseball GrounDs of Jacksonville – Jacksonville, Florida Shuckers: RHP Trey Supak (0-2, 6.60) vs. Shrimp: RHP Robert Dugger (0-1, 6.19) Game #63 – Home Game #28 (13-14) Last Game: Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp first baseman Peter O’Brien homered twice – tying a Southern League record by homering in a sixth straight game – and All-Star center fielder Monte Harrison hit a three-run walk-off home run to defeat the Biloxi Shuckers, 6-5, in front of 2,712 and their canine companions on Standard Feed & Seed Bark in the Park Night and Half-Price Yuengling Monday at the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville. After a scoreless game through four innings, the Shuckers took a 5-0 lead in the fifth inning against Jacksonville right-hander Kolton Mahoney. Shuckers first baseman Jake Gatewood lined to deep center field past Harrison and circled the bases for an inside-the-park home run – his league-high 12th home run. With one out, Mahoney walked shortstop Jake Hager and allowed consecutive singles to right fielder Trent Grisham and catcher Tyler Heineman, loading the bases. Biloxi pitcher Kodi Medeiros then hit a grand slam to the right-field bleachers for his first professional hit and a 5-0 Shuckers lead. After Mahoney went six innings, allowing five earned runs on seven hits and three walks with four strikeouts, Jumbo Shrimp relievers pitched three scoreless innings. Left-hander Miguel Del Pozo pitched the seventh inning, left-hander Jeff Kinley pitched 1 1/3 innings, and right-hander Jose Pena got the final two outs of the ninth inning. O’Brien began the comeback with a sixth-inning, one-out home run to straightaway center field, joining Derrek Lee – who homered in six straight games June 2-8, 1996, for the Memphis Chicks – as the only Southern Leaguers to homer six games in a row. It was the only run allowed by Medeiros, who allowed four hits and one walk with eight strikeouts in six innings. In the eighth inning, Shuckers right-hander Daniel Reynolds walked second baseman Isan Diaz, and O’Brien drove a two-run home run to left-center field, cutting the deficit to 5-3. O’Brien has seven home runs since Wednesday. In the bottom of the ninth, Biloxi All-Star right-hander Nate Griep walked pinch hitter Mason Davis, struck out pinch hitter Eric Jagielo and walked left fielder Cade Gotta, before Harrison hit the first pitch to left field for his ninth home run. TIME SHUCKERS STARTER JUMBO SHRIMP STARTER Tues., June 12 BLX 12:05 p.m. RHP Trey Supak (0-2, 6.60 ERA) RHP Robert Dugger (0-1, 6.19 ERA) NEWS AND NOTES Six Straight Games with Homers for O’Brien Jacksonville’s Peter O’Brien has homered in the past six games for the Jumbo Shrimp, which is tied for the Southern League record for consecutive games with a home run. He has evened the mark along with Derrek Lee who did so for the 1996 Memphis Chicks from June 2-8. O’Brien, acquired by the Marlins in a trade from the Los Angeles Dodgers on June 1, homered in the final two games of the Barons series, and the first four games of this series against the Shuckers. This is the first time in O’Brien’s career that he has homered in six straight games. O’Brien had also homered in three straight games earlier this year with Double-A Tulsa from May 12-14, and he homered in three straight games from April 24-26 with Triple-A Reno in 2016, April 20-22, July 29-31 with Triple-A Reno in 2015, and 2013 June 4-6 with Single-A Charleston in 2013. If O’Brien homers tonight, he will be the sole Southern League record holder with a seven-game home run streak. Diaz S.L. Player of the Week: Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp second baseman Isan Diaz has been named the Southern League Player of the Week for June 4-10, announced by the league office on Monday. Diaz hit safely in all seven games last week, hitting .565 (13-for-23), which was the highest batting average in Double- A baseball and the fourth-highest in all of Minor League Baseball for that time period. During his hitting streak, Diaz drove in seven runs, collected four doubles, drew six walks, stole three bases, and scored five runs. His .667 on-base percentage was the best in Minor League Baseball for the week, and he also led the Southern League with a 1.406 on-base plus slugging percentage (OPS). Also impressive during his season-long seven-game hitting streak was the fact that he recorded four multi-hit games, as well as three multi-RBI games. His batting average has risen from .194 to .240 during this stretch at the plate. His hitting streak came to an end last night with an 0-for-2 game at the plate. Seven Shrimp All-Stars: The Southern League announced that six Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp players have been named to the league’s South Division All-Star roster for the 2018 Southern League All-Star Game on Tuesday, June 19, at Regions Field in Birmingham, Alabama. Right-handed pitchers Nick Neidert and Pablo Lopez, left-handed pitcher Jose Quijada, catcher Rodrigo Vigil, designated hitter Eric Jagielo, and outfielder Monte Harrison will represent Jacksonville as South Division All-Stars. Left-handed pitcher Jeff Kinley was also added to the South Division All-Star Roster earlier today by the Southern League. See you in July, Shuckers: This is the second of four series this season between Jacksonville and Biloxi. Earlier this season, the Jumbo Shrimp were swept by the Shuckers in early May at MGM Park in Biloxi. The next series will be in Jacksonville from July 12-16. The Jumbo Shrimp will not make a return trip to Biloxi until August 6-12. Last season the Jumbo Shrimp and Shuckers played five series, with Jacksonville going 9-15 in those games. That included a 6-9 record in Biloxi, and the Shrimp were 3-6 against the Shuckers in Jacksonville. The Jumbo Shrimp did win their last series here in late August, including a key doubleheader sweep on August 30 that shrunk Jacksonville’s magic number to clinch the second half South Division title from five to one, and the Shrimp clinched a playoff berth the next day with a win at home against the Blue Wahoos. Shrimp Have Prospects: On the roster, the Jumbo Shrimp have five players who were listed by MLB.com as Top 30 Miami Marlins prospects for the 2018 season: OF Monte Harrison (1), Isan Diaz (7), RHP Nick Neidert (8), RHP Pablo Lopez (21), and John Norwood (30). Requests must be received at least one week prior to a home game. PARKING: Parking in lots surrounding the stadium is limited. Every effort will be made to accommodate requests for parking passes, but parking cannot be provided for all credentialed media. The appropriate parking pass will be required for access to all stadium parking lots on game days. Television trucks which provide satellite, uplink or microwave functions will be parked in the TV truck compound near Gate 1, and a parking pass is required. MEDIA ENTRANCE, CREDENTIAL WILL CALL: The media entrance at the stadium is Gate 1, at the southwest corner of the stadium. The appropriate game credential must be presented at the media entrance for admission to the stadium. Game credentials not picked up in advance will be available on game day at the media will-call window at Gate 1. The Media Will Call window will open three hours prior to kickoff. Parking passes will not be left at the Will Call window.     MEDIA CLIPS – Oct. 29, 2018 Rockies decline Parra's option for 2019 Do-Hyoung Park | MLB.com | Oct. 30th, 2018 The Rockies have declined a $12 million club option on outfielder Gerardo Parra for the 2019 season, exercising a $1.5 million buyout on Tuesday to make him a free agent. Parra appeared in 142 games in 2018 but started only 97 of them as a platoon outfielder, primarily in left field. He hit .284/.342/.372 in the final year of a three-year, $27.5 million contract inked prior to the 2016 season. The two-time National League Gold Glove Award winner lost playing time toward the end of the regular season when David Dahl returned from injury and Matt Holliday made his return to Colorado in August. The left-handed-hitting Parra, 31, struggled to live up to expectations in his first year with Colorado in 2016, hitting .253 with a .671 OPS, but he rebounded in '17 with career highs in average (.309) and RBIs (71). He spent the first five-plus seasons of his 10-year career with the D-backs before brief stints with Milwaukee and Baltimore prior to his arrival in Denver. Still, the Rockies will entertain the idea of agreeing to a less expensive deal with Parra, who showed value as a pinch- hitter this season by batting .393/.433/.536 with one homer, one double and two walks in 30 plate appearances. Franchise mainstay Carlos Gonzalez and Holliday are also free agents again for the Rockies. Colorado has two starting outfield positions locked up for 2019 between Dahl and three-time All-Star Charlie Blackmon, who in April was extended through the '21 season with player options for '22 and '23.
